Movie Review: Red Sandal

The thriller is based on illegal red sandalwood smuggling in a dense forest in a neighbouring state. Vetri plays a boxer character who goes in search of his  girlfriend's brother who has gone missing, allegedly while being employed as contract labour to fell red sandal trees.


When he goes in search of his friend he uncovers a vast nexus run by a dangerous politico and mafia. The gang doesnt allow  the labours to go scot free.

Corrupt cops too are part of the nexus,shooting the labours who want to go home. Ganesh Venkatraman plays a special task force officer investigating the case.

Will Vetri succeed in getting his friend back alive?









The film has enough thrills to keep the viewer invested.

The forest chase scenes are gripping.

Vetri and Ganesh do a good job of their roles.

MS Bhasker's emotional family scenes are moving highlighting the penury which causes the people to be caught up in the the illegal racket.


On the flip side, the bgm and songs are too overpowering at times, not giving enough room for emotions to sink in to the viewer.


Overall a thrilling emotional crime drama that is moving.
