Qube's 100% VPF Waiver for Hindi, Non South Markets in December !

Image
by Rinku Gupta  Leading Digital Service Provider ( DSP) Qube Cinemas, is going all out to help revive the industry reeling under the aftermath of the lockdown. In a major move to help producers plan releases for the festive season ahead, Qube has extended a 100% waiver of Virtual Print Fee (VPF) for new movie releases in December, to support Producers and Exhibitors in the Hindi and Non- South markets. For January, there will be a 60% waiver. It maybe recalled that  In Kollywood, after a stalemate over the waiver issue between the industry and the DSP , finally Qube had recently signed an agreement with the Tamil Film Active Producers  Association (TFAPA)   led by Bharathi Raja. This offered  a substantial reduction in VPF in order to help the Kollywood industry and get footfalls back into the theatres.  However, unlike the offer to Hindi and Non- regional markets, for some reason, the exact details of the waivers for Kollywood have not been dis...

Deck cleared for new releases, VPF issue resolved by producers, Qube!

Image
By Rinku Gupta With the unlock procedures ongoing in a phased manner, theatres in Tamilnadu had also opened up on 10th November. But there was a deadlock between producers, exhibitors and leading Digital Service Provider, Qube Cinemas, over Virual Print Fees (VPF), which was deemed too high in the present post lockdown era. This tussle was a deterrent for  new releases.  The good news is that in the best interests of the industry at large, the issue has however now been resolved.  An agreement has been reached between all  parties concerned. This means that new films can now be released with greater fiscal ease, for an already cash-strapped industry reeling under financial budens due to the lockdown. A press release from the TFAPA  reveals the details as follows: "Tamil Film Active Producers Association (TFAPA), Qube Technologies, Tamil Nadu Theatre & Multiplex Owners Association (TNTMOA) have been negotiating on the VPF charges for the last two months....

Film Review : Namma Veetu Pillai

Image
By Rinku Gupta Sun Pictures' Namma Veetu Pillai is the next outing of the Pandiraj-Sivakarthikeyan duo, co-starrring Aishwarya Rajesh ( as his sister) and Anu Emmanuel ( as his love interest).Bharathi Raja ( his grandfather), Samudrakani ( his late dad), Soori ( his cousin) Natty ( his sister's husband) and a host of others make up the large star cast of this rural family drama. The bro-sis relationship forms the mainstay of the film. If at first seeing Aishwarya play his sister is tough to handle, the way the actors have handled thier roles makes you understand that Aishwarya was indeed the perfect choice for the role. Nirav Shah's camera work is a huge plus as is D Imman's music. The story in a nutshell is fairly simple, its the larger than life emotions and characters that resonate well, appealing to the sentimental core within us. Arumpon ( sivakartikeyan) lives with his mom ( a widow... with a backstory) and sis Tulasi( Aishwarya Rajesh) and has a lo...
