Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies' magnum opus, and director Mani Ratnam's dream project, PS 1 aka Ponniyin Selvan 1, released in theatres in several languages on September 30th. The film is based Kalki's famed novel Ponniyin Selvan. The story is set during the Chola period and revolves around events in the lives of Sundara Chola ( Prakash Raj) and his children, the three siblings, Aaditha Karikalan (Chiyaan Vikram), Kundavai ( Trisha) and the crown prince Arunmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi) who later becomes the famed Raja Raja Chozhan. There are forces, manipulated by the beautiful but  vengeful Nandini (Aishwarya Rai), the former love of Aditha Karikalan, who want to usurp the throne and wreak havoc in the kingdom. Vallavaraiyan Vandhiyathevan (Karthi) is the one who is the trusted link between all these characters, who uses his wits and prowess to carry important messages to and fro and also to protect the Cholas from harm. When Actor Karthi spoke, During our school,we usually sleep when it comes to history. We wont have much interest in history. We have been only taught about the Colonization of our land by foreigners. At this point of time,there is no time for anyone to read a book. But Mani sir has a made a film from a Five part book. Without reading history, we cannot create history. I suggest the younger generation to read history. When we watch this film,we will feel proud, I will say Ponniyin Selvan is a gift to us given by Mani sir.
