Film Review: 7G The Dark Story

Varsha ( Smruthi Venkat) and her husband Rajiv move into their own new flat numbered 7 G, with their son. At the house warming party, Rajiv's ex girlfriend Nisha does a witchcraft on their son Rahul and the family because she wants Rajiv back in her life.

Soon some eerie events create havoc in the happy family.  One day,  the truth behind the happenings is revealed. The ghost haunting them is none other than Manjula ( Sonia Agarwal) who had lived there previously with her son. She was threatened by her gambler step brother Rakesh ( Sidharth Vipin) who wanted her flat as he was in heavy gambling debts and is threatened by Balaji who is demanding his money back with dire threats.

Varsha is heartbroken on hearing this story  and decides to help her wreak revenge on the people responsible for Manjula and her son's death.

What happens next?

The film has pleasant visuals with good choice of  locations  in the apartment building  which make for good viewing. Though its a horror story, there are no gory moments.

The talented Sonia Agarwal as the victim and later the ghost,  evokes sympathy with her performance. There's not much of spookiness or gory looks attached to the ghosts in this film,  so even those who have a fear of horror films can watch the movie,  without unease. Sonia 's presence and performance adds value to the film,  also  as the title refers to her hit film.

There are two separate story angles joined together, that of Nisha coveting Rajiv and the revenge of Manjula and both angles keep the suspense element going all through.

The charming Smruthi Venkat is perfectly cast as the innocent but strong minded, young wife and mom,  who melts at seeing the wronged mom and son.

Siddharth Vipin does a good job as the gambling, greedy brother.

At times the screenplay meanders a bit and there are too many English dialogues which seem odd at times. The screenplay could have been more crisper in the first half. However the second half moves at a racy pace, making up for any lags.

Overall a horror story with less horror and more sentiment, drama and emotion.
