Actor Vijay Antony holds a special mention for streaking success with fresh directorial talents in the industry. The multi-faceted icon of Tamil cinema is now elated sharing his experience of working with debutant Balaji Kumar, director of his upcoming release ‘Kolai’, which is all set for worldwide release tomorrow (July 21, 2023). He starts off saying, “Personally, I am a great fan of whodunit murder-mystery thrillers from childhood. Of course, it is one particular genre that has great has universal fans. When Balaji Kumar narrated the script, I felt both the plot and my character so intense. I mean to state that it’s a character that needs to battle the baffling challenges within itself, and has to crack the mystery. Pradeep ( Premgi) is a village wastrel who is about to get married to his lady love (Swayamsiddha). But as luck would have it,  he discovers a corpse in the wilderness one day and takes the phone, a gold chain and  watch of the murdered victim to the local police station in Aruppukottai village. For his honesty he gets an unjust reward. The cops, who find out that the dead man had loads of gold jewellery on him,  which is now missing,  suspect Pradeep of stealing it. They all want a cut in the booty and fail to investigate anyone else,  including the 4 murderers. When the case lands in court, what happens?
