Rashmika Mandanna enters Bollywood !

 By Rinku Gupta The year is sure ending on a good note for the charming actor Rashmika Mandanna . The heroine who has a garnered a huge fan base is all set to complete 4 years in films. In the meantime, right from her Kannada debut in Rakshit Shetty's Kirik Party to Telugu hits like Geetha Govindam opposite Vijay Deverakonda , she is going places. Awaiting her Tamil debut Sulthan opposite Karthi , she is now stepping into Bollywood. Rashmika announced her debut in Hindi, opposite Sidharth Malhotra in Mission Majnu, a spy thriller set in the 70's directed by Shanthnu Bagchi . She posted, "Well guys, here’s news for you! Abhishek Bachchan Tests Covid Positive!

By Rinku Gupta Close on the heels of the news of the legendary Amitabh Bachchan testing covid 19 positive,  comes the news of his son, actor Abhishek Bachchan also being declared as covid positive. Both have got mild symptoms. The actor tweeted, " Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for COVID 19. Both of us having mild symptoms have been admitted to hospital. We have informed all the required authorities and our family and staff are all being tested. I request all to stay calm and not panic. Thank you. 🙏🏽 This is indeed troubling news for friends and fans of the family. He added that the Brihan Mumbai Corporation ( BMC) had been informed. Bachchan senior has been admitted in Nanavati hospital in Mumbai. He had announced on Twitter that his family is undergoing tests as well. We wish the duo a speedy recovery!

The actor made the announcement on Twitter, adding that his family is being tested and requested that anyone who came in touch with him in the past few days should get themselves tested He tweeted," T 3590 -I have tested CoviD positive ..  shifted to Hospital  .. hospital informing  authorities .. family and staff undergone tests , results awaited .. SR Prabhu calls for End to ' statement wars' between Theatres and Producers!

By Rinku Gupta The covid pandemic lockdown situation led to theatrical releases becoming impossible.  Films which were ready for release being directly hit at the time,  some chose to take the OTT route. In Kollywood Suriya announced his Ponmagal Vandhal would release on Amazon Prime on May 29 while Karthik Subbaraj's production Penguin, with Keerthy Suresh, will release on June 19. Amazon Prime announces direct digital release of 7 films !

By Rinku Gupta Leading streaming platform Amazon Prime Video is making deep inroads into the cinema space in the covid pandemic lockdown era when theatres are shut indefinitely . They have announced a line up of 7 films in various languages to cater to film buffs across the country.  These films include Ponmagal Vandhal (Tamil) , Penguin ( Tamil, Telugu), Law ( Kannada), French Biriyani ( Kannada),  Sufiyum Sujatayum ( Malayalam), Shakuntala Devi ( Hindi) and Gulabo Sitabo ( Hindi). The impressive list includes films of stars Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Jyotika, Keerthy Suresh, Ayushmann Khurrana, Aditi Rao Hydari, Jayasurya amongst others. Suriya announces Ponmagal Vandhal global OTT premiere date !

His 2D Entertainments production, and wife Jyotika starrer Ponmagal Vandhal will release on May 29th on Amazon Prime Video. Suriya tweeted, "We are excited and cant wait for you all to watch #PonmagalVandhalOnPrime from  29th May. She isn't afraid to fight for what is right! # WorldPremiereOnPrime " Fans have been waiting ever since April when the first announcement was made about going the OTT route. Exhibitors put up a stiff resistance to the move which they felt could set off a trend, affecting theatrical business post the covid pandemic. But 30 leading producers supported Suriya at the time, with an open letter of support. Now, that the date has also been announced,  there is no doubt jubiliation in the fans' camp. Are direct digital releases on OTT streaming platforms, emerging as the new norm, given the global uncertainty around the opening of theatres as a fallout of the pandemic? Regional cinema, the early birds... In the   Telugu industry,    Amrutharamam  a film with newbies,  directed by debutant  Surendar Kontaddi  which  had been ready for release, decided not to wait indefinitely, and opted for a direct digital release  on Zee 5 on April 29 due to the uncertain  lockdown situation. In the Tamil industry, actor -producer, Suriya set the ball rolling in this direction. Suriya announced that his 2D Entertainments', Jyotika starrer Ponmaghal Vandhal would stream directly on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video , bypassing the theatrical route, given the uncertainity of a release date due to the lockdown....

Megastar Chiranjeevi plays the role of the illustrious warrior, in an ambitious project which aims to bring to the fore a freedom fighter whose rebellion preceeded the 1857 Mutiny and whose contribution thus deseves the spotlight. Made in Telugu and dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, Malyalam and Kannada, the film will no doubt thus take the story to a wider audience, and rightly so.
