Review Web Series - Ammuchi 2

 The Rajeswar Kalisamy directorial Ammuchi 2 with acting by  the Nakkalites team ( Arunkumar, Sassi and others), dropped on Aha Tamil on June 17th. This sequel to the original, deals with the life of an aspiring student (Mithra) who wants to study further, against all opposition from the drinken patriarch of the family.  When she informs Arun about this,  he comes to Kondangipalayam, the village of his ammuchi (Chinnamani amma in a superb performance) with the sole mission of helping her achieve her goal.  In the process, he also lies to his family,  saying that he is going to Goa. What are the roadblocks he meets with in his plans? Do the youngsters succeed?  The local flavours and landscape are well captured by DOP Santhosh Kumar, making it one of the highlights of the series. The delightfully endearing scenes between the ammuchi and the youngsters she dotes on are a mix of fun and emotions.  Suzhal The Vortex directed by the Vikram Vedha duo Pushkar- Gayathrie, dropped on Amazon Prime on June 17th. A cop, Regina ( Sriya Reddy in a screen comeback) is at loggerheads with the local Cement factory union leader, Shanmugam ( Parthipan) in a small village of Sambhaloor. Trilok ( Harish Uthaman) is the young MD with ideas of his own on how to quell a labour uprising in the factory.   During the local Mayana Kollai festival, a teenage girl goes missing. Tensions rise as Sakkarai ( Kathir) another cop, and the missing Nila's sister Nandini ( Aishwarya Rajesh), go in search and return with unexpected answers.  Directed by debutant GK Viknesh, the Dream Warrior Pictures' much awaited Nayanthara starrer O2 dropped on Disney Hotstar on Friday 17th June. The story revolves around a young mom Parvathy ( Nayanthara) who has to travel with her little son ( Master Rithvik aka You Tuber Rithu Rocks) from Coimbatore to Kochi by bus. There, the child who needs portable oxygen support daily, has to undergo an operation that will heal his damaged lung and give him a new lease of life.  But things don't go as planned. The bus comes under a horrific landslide on a bypass mountain route. Trapped, the inmates have only a few hours of oxygen supply left to survive. When a vicious cop on board learns of the extra cylinder of oxygen for the child, he unleashes havoc to procure it. As the clock ticks by and hope is lost, the inmates resort to violence. Yuvan Shankar Raja is producing ‘Maamanithan’ for his production house of YSR Films. The movie is directed by Seenu Ramasamy and features Vijay Sethupathi and Gayathrie in the lead roles.
