 Velan( Vemal) is a no good, happy go lucky chap who does no work and lives off his sister ( Devadarshini),tortures the village folk and spends his time mostly drinking, with his buddy ( Soori). Fed up with his antics the villsgers collect money and pack him off to Malaysia where he gets a job. But in a turn of events he is forcedy to return home, where he continues his old ways. But due to a manipulation, people think he has won a lottery and they make him village president. Does this responsibility bring about a change in him? Do the villagers find out the truth? The film is a jolly happy go lucky ride in the first half,  and swings into a,slightly more serious turn in the second half, when the hero turns over a  new leaf, leaving the viewer with a positive message at the end.
