Moondram Manithan has an impressive cast with Bhagyaraj and Sonia Agarwal.
The story which is investigative thriller, at the core is an emotional tale about humam relationships and how habits, circumstances and misinderstandingscan take a toll on them
The story revolves around 2 couples. Brana plays the wife of Ramdev ( director, hero). The couple start off well but soon failure at work causes, him to start drinking and suspicion of his wife and dominating her becomes the norm, leading to a breakdown.
Brana works as house help for a lady ( Sonia Agarwal) and her cop husband. Miscommunication and high expectations lead to a rift in that marriage as well.
In such a scenario, the cop goes missing one day. Bhagyraj plays the officer investigating the case.
What has happened to the missing cop? Is he dead? If so who killed him and why? How are Brana and Ramdev linked to this issue ?
The movie has an interesting premise and explores well, topics like marital relations, what causes breakdowns amongst couples, and how small things and failure to change can lead to massive consequences.
The investigative parts also manage to keep you invested. But the manner in which the screenplay proceeds gets a tad tiring to watch and require full attention and patience. The making and close ups also gives a sense of watching a tv serial. The editing could have been crisper to keep the viewers interest going uninterrupted.
The performance and presence of veteran Bhagyaraj is a big plus to the film. Sonia Agarwal makes her star presence felt in a cameo with a solid act.
Brana is a good performer displaying a variety of emotions and ages in the story. Director Ramdev plays the lead but though his performance is ok, a younger actor would have perhaps more impactful for the story.
