Movie Review: Family Padam

Tamizh ( Udhay Karthik) is an aspiring film director living with his brothers, a lawyer Sarath Kumar ( Vivek Prasanna) and a BPO exec Parthi along with a  loving  mom, grand dad ( mohan sundaram) and dad who runs a gym.

Despite trying his best, Tamizh does not find the right producer for his script.  When he finally gets one,  he meets with a complication that shatters him.

Seeing his passion for  cinema, his brother Sarath Kumar decides that the family should somehow raise money and produce Tamizh's film. Parthiban also agrees. But the task is mo easy task for a middle class family like their's.

What happens next? Does the family raise the funds. Does Tamizh find success?

The film,  which is touted to be a comedy has a novel idea at its core ( which explains the title quite well) which makes for interesting viewing. The family members display a natural affinity and good teamwork, making them look like a real family,  thanks to some fine performances by Vivek Prasanna, Sreeja Ravi, Parthiban and Mohanasundaram. Udhay Karthik delivers the good with a neat performance, his scenes with the producer, with his friend and with his brothers, standing out.

The film gives out positive vibes, a refreshing change from violence and jealousy that one usually sees on screen these days.  The lead pair of Subiksha and Udhay have a good screen chemistry and the romance track fits well into the story.

Perhaps delving into his own experiences, the debut director has tried to show the behind-the-scences situations and the immense struggle aspiring filmmakets have to face, which makes for some fun moments and insights into the film industry. He also successfully brings out the beauty of family rationships and how greatly unity and family support can affect one's future.

The visuals are good and so is the music.

On the flip side, at times the film feels like a dated tv serial, but the director soon makes up for those moments with  interesting character traits, dialogues and camaraderie.

A heart-touching story that keeps the viewer engaged,  with a slice of life feel and a positive message.
