Moothakudi is a tale that traces the bad effrcts of alcohol on a family and on society in general. 

KR Vijaya plays a matriarch who is well respected in the village. When her sons are victims of a mishap caused by drinking  she vows she will not allow others to suffer. 

So a rule is made that no alcohol will be sold anywhere in the village and everyone follows that. 

But vested interests and politicos scheme to make money and put an end to this rule.

Do they succeed? How do the villagers react? Can they save thier village?

The story has noble intentions but the making seems a tad dated. 

KR Vijays impresses as usual,  bringing credibility to the story with her presence.  There is a tad too much melodrama which tests patience. The editing could have been better.  

Though all the actors do their best performance wise, the triangular love story thrown doesnt really hold water especially since the age gap between characters seems a tad much. 

 Overall, an emotional tale made with good intentions.
