  Tom Cruise talks about the death-defying stunt in Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning   On September 6, 2020, the first day of principal photography on Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Tom Cruise drove a motorbike off a mountain. Specifically, he drove a custom-made Honda CRF 250 off a purpose-built ramp on the side of Norway’s Helsetkopen mountain, a vertiginous rock face sat some 1,200 metres above sea level. Then he plunged 4,000 feet into the ravine below before opening his parachute barely 500 feet from the ground.   When he landed, director, Christopher McQuarrie, and the small crew of his Mission co-stars who had assembled to watch the seminal cinematic sequence from the safety of video village, breathed a collective sigh of relief. Regina ( Sunainaa) suffers a tragedy when her husband is killed in a bank heist and she also loses a baby.  Efforts for help from the cops fail and she is insulted every time she tries.  Cut to a new Regina who moves to another town, takes up a job and now plans revenge , determined to find out who the killers were. Does she succeed?  The first half of Regina moves a tad slowly as we get introduced to the characters. The Sooravali song , a melodious track by producer- music director Sathish Nair lingers long after, both for the visuals as well as Sid Sriram's soulful rendering. The second half is where most of the action,  suspense and drama is and with its different locations, characters and staging, the film steps up on its style quotient, piqueing your interest.  Thalainagaram 2 is directed by VZ Durai and stars Sundar C, Thambi Ramaiah, Pallak Lalwani and others.  The story centres around Right ( Sundar C) who gets, back into fighting evil doers, when he encounters Sitara ( Pallak Lalwani) a heroine who seeks revenge for a crime against her.  Moved by her plight,  Right agrees to find the wrongdoers, and thereby sets of a chain reaction of several villains who now want to see him dead.  Does Right find justice for the girl? At what cost ?  The film is a crime story so action scenes are aplenty from the word go. A delight for action lovers,  Sundar C and the bunch of baddies are in top form. With a series of weapons and novel ways of torturing  enemies, many violent  scenes are not for the faint hearted and certainly not for kids. At places it would seem things, go a tad overboard, though perhaps it is the nature of the action story that demands such a screenplay. Palak as the heroine does a good job...

Sj Suryah plays an artist who works in a mannequin factory where he paints the faces of the dolls.  One day he comes across a mannequin with a mark on her face, which takes him back in Time, reminding him of the same mark of the face of his childhood best friend Nandini whom he lost in a fair.  Haunted by her absence in his life he is on meds under psychiatric care. Now he is obsessed with the damaged mannequin who seems to come alive as an grown up Nandini for him.  He becomes obsessed with the mannequin who talks to him in his imagination. He even turns violent killing a man What happens next? Where does this obsession take him? Though the film has a sort of unique premise with interesting storyline that could have been pursued in many ways,  the film goes down a different path, taking a rather easy way out in the climax.  The genre wavers b...

Gomathi ( Urvashi) lives with her son Ravi ( Balu Verghese). She is a devout worshipper of the family deity lord Ganesha. But her son discovers that the idol is worth crores and tempted by the money ( he can cure his night blindness he feels) he decides to steal it with the help of a pickpocket ,Charles ( Kalayarasan). What happens next when Ravi discovers that is not easy to steal and sell the idol ? The movie has an interesting enough premise but the way the screenplay moves, makes it tough to watch and keep yourself invested in the proceedings after a while. The Tamil dubbing doesnt help either. The meandering screenplay and the many characters that distract, dont give enough time to absorb the actual central point of the story. The ending seems forced, to justify the title it would seem. While Urvashi's presence keeps you hooked the same can't be said of others.
