Aadhi ( Amitash) is a petty thief who gets caught when he tries to rob cop Maithreyan's ( Sarath kumar) flat.

His woes double and he is shocked when the  corrupt cop threatens to jail him if he doesnt help him in a nefarious and dangerous idol smuggling racket.

Aadhi wants to avoid jail and needs the money for a family medical emergency so he agrees.

But when the duo start negotiating for a 11th century rare stolen idol, all hell breaks loose. The mess they get into becomes murkier, more dangeous and life threatening. Nobody can be trusted in this cat and mouse game. What happens to the duo? Do they manage to sell the idol with thier lives intact? What secrets come tumbling out in the process?

Debut director C Arvind Raj, deserves kudos for his choice of subject of idol and artefact smuggling. His work seems detailed on screen and highlights the attention to  researching his subject in depth, which gives a realistic feel to the film.

The scenes are shot realistically and the screenplay moves at a steady pace, with just the right breathing time for the viewer to absorb the proceedings. The cat and mouse game keeps you glued to the screen, wondering what's next.

The superb casting is a highlight. For the veteran Sarath Kumar, close on the heels of super hit Por Thozhil, this is another meaty role and be sinks his teeth into it. Though both are cop roles, he makes Maithreyan very different and plays the flawed cop to perfection, with many a nuanced conveyed with subtlety. His presence in the film, with his superb performance is one more reason to watch it.

Amitash Pradhan as Aadhi, is aptly cast and  gives a  measured performance, that never let's on more than the director intended as the  story moves along, keeping the suspense just right.  A good script choice by the actor, and a solid performance, make him stand out.

Kashmira Pardeshi as the sculptor does full justice to her role. The subtle chemistry between the leads works out well without distracting from the story.

The superb casting of villains and supporting cast is an added advantage which keeps the viewer guessing and the proceedings interesting.

The visuals and music are good and the well executed stunt scenes are a plus for the film. There are no distractions like comedy and romance tracks, keeping the film on the rails and true to its genre.

On the flip side,  the last pre -climax scenes seem rushed and a little more time given to absorb what's going on would have been welcome. One paricular, gory, violent scene could have been avoided.

Overall, Paramporul, a thriller with an interestingly narrated, well- researched storyline, solid performances, gripping screenplay, good action scenes and loads of suspense and twists, makes for a good watch.
