One day, a local Inspector, Muthukaruppan (Bose Venkat) gets in trouble over a lock up death and absconds. As luck would have it, due to a political conspiracy, it is the innocent Gunasekar who is made a scapegoat and arrested and tortured, in order to get him to admit to a crime he is not guilty of. His  helpless family's world is shattered. But hope appears in the form of kani's boyfriend. Does justice prevails? Who is behind the false case against him? The film marks ace bike racer TTF Vasan's big screen debut and the actor does full justice to his role, displaying ample charm and screen presence. Abirami is aptly chosen and shines as the troubled wife. For Kishore, the role is a cakewalk. But as the movie proceeds one can't help but feel his one note, tortured and distraught  charact...

Movie Review: Tere Ishk Mein

Shankar ( Dhanush) is the IAF's ace fighter pilot. But in one important mission in Ladakh, he is grounded due to not following instructions. As a result he has to get counselling and approval from the defense psychologist Mukti ( Kriti Sanon) incharge.  But when he meets Mukti he freezes, unable to contain the surge of emotions. Who is Mukti? What is their relationship? Why is she in Leh despite being 9 months pregnant? How does her presence impact Shankar's life? The film is an intense love story with a difference and takes its own time to unfold  but grips you in a most engaging way, at every step. Anand L Rai has stupendously and painstakingly fleshed out each of his characters, from Mukti and Shankar to Raghav, (Prakash Raj), his  father and even Shankar's friend  in a way that you get involved with their stories, feelings and emotions. The film takes you on emotional highs in several places and makes you feel what the characters are undergoing. And this is possi...

Web series Review : Regai

Image
Regai streaming on Zee 6 Tamil is an investigative thriller based on  story of ace writer Rajesh Kumar. A young Cop Vetri ( Bala Hasan ) is called in to investigate a series of crimes of several young men. Bodies crop up with hands cut  off. Even more intriguing is the fact that all the bodies have the same fingerprints. Who is the killer? Are the deceased connected in any way? With not much to go on,  how does Vetri crack the case? The thriller moves at a steady pace, with no room for distractions. Humor is inherent in small incidents between the lead pair Bala and Pavithra Janani who plays his junior cop. The cute  chemistry between the duo is engaging. At times the screenplay is confusing due to non linear narrations and dialogues about one too many characters without establishing a connect with the viewer. This takes away interest many a time.  In later epidodes however the series picks up pace. Overall a neat  investigative cop thriller with an ...
