FIGHT CLUB which hits screens on Dec 15th, centres around a group of youth and how their lives are entwined in intrigue, drugs, illegal activities and gang wars,  with hardly a way out,  manipulated as they are, by people in power.

Vijay Kumar, plays Selva, a youngster who always wanted to be a boxer and make something of his life,  despite his poor circumstances.
Though hope comes in the form of a do-gooder, Benjamin, who promises to enrol him in boxing classes as a teen, his life turns upside down when Benjamin is killed overnight by his criminal minded brother, Joseph,  and his friend Kiruba.

Years later,  when the brother returns from jail, he sets in motion a plan for revenge against his former buddy who  got off lightly while he was left to  suffer in jail and is now in a good position in life.

To this end,  he decides to use Selva's innocent belief in him,  and manipulate his  respect for Benjamin along with those of his friends, instigating them against his enemy.

As this game plan  gets bigger, matters reach a head, when many more innocent youngsters are invloved.

Does Selva realise who is behind all the escalating violence? Is he able to solve this issue before more lives are lost?

Like the name suggests, the film is full of scenes of fights, chases, killing and mayhem,  but all are in line with the main story,  each incident choreographed in a way that adds to the intrigue and suspense. To this end,  the stunt team along with the editor and camera team, deserve  kudos.

Every actor is well cast and shines in his role,  a big plus of the movie. Vijay Kumar lends full credibility to his role with his body language and expressions. The villains deserve a mention for their performance as do the  supporting cast of friends for their realistic performances.
The dialogues and the nativity of the characters transport the viewer right into the world of the characters.
The camerawork of Britto is a highlight especially in the mayhem and chase scenes while Govind Vasantha shines with his bgm and songs.

On the downside, the movie,  though full of thrills and sub-plots, takes time to unfold and the many characters take time to get familiar with.
There are some gory scenes of violence, not for the faint-hearted.

The female lead seems to disappear from the story after a song and doesnt seem to have much bearing on the proceedings.

The storyline seems wafer thin but manages to  keep you engaged overall.

The overall message the film is trying to convey to the youth,  comes across at the end.

Fight Club stands out for its realistic performances and a social message of how youth need to seek their own path with the help of education and sports, without giving in to  manipulation by vested interests. An intense revenge drama high on emotions.
