Movie Review : Peranbamum Perumkobamum
Jeeva (Vijith Bachan) a nurse, is implicated in a child kidnapping case. As the investigation unfolds, a flashback into a bygone period, several decades ago, begins to unfold, which reveals rampant social prejudices and honor killings which have affected his family in the past. Does the past still affect the present? Is Jeeva able to avenge the tribulations of the past?
Director Sivaprakash's captures a fine performance by Vijith, who brings out the pain, frustration and revenge of his character with a profoundly impactful and effectively layered performance. Shali Nivekas as Sarah, is the perfect foil with her intense performance as the female lead. The supporting cast is well chosen with actors like Mime Gopi and Arul Doss who bring a realistic touch with their strong performances.
Ilayaraja's music adds to the poignancy of the scenes.
However, some scenes of gore may not be for the faint hearted.
The film aims to touch upon issues like inter community violence and social prejudices, and successfully conveys it's message, laced with several twists which lead up to the gripping finale.
An intense, emotional saga with revenge at its core, aiming to highlight societal discrimination that continues to affect society, told with a layered narration, heartfelt performances and an evenly moving, gripping screenplay that keeps you invested emotionally all through.
