Movie Review : Revolver Rita

A dreaded gangster, quite by accident, lands up in the home of a young girl ( Keerthy Suresh) and her mom ( Radhika Sarathkumar) and in the confusion that ensues, gets killed.

Unknown to them,  his head is actually a bounty worth 5 crores for a group of thugs who are following him.

The terror stricken family tries to get rid of the corpse but in doing so, lands up in the cross hairs of groups of rival goons, all determined to procure the corpse and bag the bounty from a gangster who had ordered the killing.

What happens to the innocent family? Do they manage to escape from the clutches of the baddies? Who gets the bounty? What happens to the corpse?

The film is cat and mouse game in typical comedy noir style. Radhika and Keerthy make for a superb team and shine in noteworthy performances. Their impactful dialogues, expressions and actions induce laughter in just the right measure as intented.

For Revolver Rita aka ace performer Keerthy Suresh, the role is a cakewalk and she delivers it with aplomb. Be it her innocent wide- eyed  looks, or her gumption and quick thinking in tough situations, her timing is spectacular and she holds the film effortlessly on her shoulders.

The film is made on a grand scale and has good visuals and a bgm which elevates without overpowering.

The stunt scenes are a highlight as the family escapes  goons and even cops in a variety of novel ways.

On the flip side, there are lags at times when dialogues between the goons get repetitive. Sendrayan's foul language lines though muted seem in bad taste for family audiences. At some places the laughs don't seem to land. The story seems a tad predictable many a time.

But Revolver Rita with its gripping twists, hi octane action blocks,  racy screenplay with never a dull moment, dark humor, high drama, witty dialogues, super- charged performances from acting powerhouses Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Sarathkumar, makes for an enjoyable family entertainer.
