Movie Review : Mandaadi
In Mugavai Pattinam, a coastal village famous for sailboat racing, Muthukaali ( Soori)—a once-celebrated sailboat racer—returns after twenty years of self-imposed exile. He crosses paths with Maari (Mithun Jai Shankar), a rebellious teenager who has been forced to flee the village following a violent incident during a local race. Muthukaali steps in to protect him, but his return reignites old rivalries and disturbs the village’s existing power structure. His old friend, and now enemy, Saattaappuli ( Suhas), the powerful controller of the village race team, challenges Muthukaali to a high-stakes sailboat race. With Maari and a group of inexperienced local youths, Muthukaali forms a team and begins training against overwhelming odds. Saattaappuli uses his wealth, influence, and violent threat laden control over the villagers to crush their underdog effort.
