Movie Review : Mr X
Indira ( Manju Warrier). The mission is to find and bring back to India, his father Mr X, (Sarathkumar)who had abandoned him in childhood along with his sister Aditi in a peculiar set of circumstances due to which the siblings also get separated
The film is made on an ambitious scale by Prince Pictures and director Manu Anand 's vision of a slick, spy thriller, translates well on screen. Credit goes to the camerawork which elevates the film with fantastic visuals, wide canvases be it across oceans, panoramic cityscapes or the skies, giving the film an international feel.
Dhibu Ninan Thomas' bgm builds the momentum at the right places, hitting just the right notes, without being intrusive.
The run time is crisp with sharp edits, which add to the slick feel of the film.
Dialogues are many and one has to give them one's undivided attention in order to keep pace with the many character's roles, backstories and present day goals.
Manu Anand seems to have based the film on several news items in the past. His vision is aided by solid casting. Kaali Venkat, Jayaprakash, Mohan Raman, all add value with their presence. Sarathkumar is presented in a dashing avatar in an important role but more on that seems to be reserved for the sequel.
Arya as the rugged RAW agent looks every inch the fighter and excels in the action scenes. His underwater scene stands out. Gautham Ram Karthik gets a meaty role and bites into it delivering it with a chilling, menacing panache. Both the hero and villain are in great form and their physicality adds to the credibility factor.
Manju Warrier has a strong role and she ably packs a punch in the superbly choreographed action scenes.
Anagha proves her mettle in every frame while Raiza Wilson delivers her role with a controlled intensity that leaves a mark. Athulya Ravi scores with her nuanced role.
On the flip side, the narration seems to be a tad contrived and things happen too fast and sometimes with more ease than seems logical.
However, the thrilling sequences, fast narration, ideological battles, unpredictable twists at regular intervals and good visuals amped by terrific action blocks and a plethora of actors delivering solid performances, make Mr X an entertaining big screen watch.
