Movie Review:Yen Ennai Edho Seidhai

When a bachelor Karthik ( D anthony)  books an escort Madhu ( Madhumita Das) quite unexpectedly, the duo develop feelings, for each other. Karthik gets to know her past and her daughter, and the duo move in together.

But just when things are going well,  and marriage is on the cards, the duo have a serious fight and Madhu leaves in order to protect her daughter and herself.

Karthik realises his mistake and is heartbroken and ready to do anything to get her back.

But does Madhu agree? Do the duo ever  reunite? Does their  love overcome all barriers?

The film is a slice-of-life movie and director Anthony who is also the hero, manages to give the film a lived -in sort of feel to it,  with natural dialogues, live sound, acting that feels natural and not performed and a solid supporting cast of 2 friends and their partners, who are a pillar of support to their friend.

The film seems to lag a bit here and there, largely because it's a dialogue heavy screenplay. But the natural performances, realistic take on life, relationships, the way romance and love are expressed, the way friendships are portrayed, all make up for any lags.

Many moments stand out in memory, like the way the duo talk to one another, the slow burn romance and discovery of love, the  scenes where Madhu introduces her daughter to Karthik, the realistic fights, the natural and mature way the 2 close friends fight with Karthik and the way they make up and stay for him solid as rocks when he is down, the way Karthik changes himself for his love and many more. Moments like these show the director's attention to detail and going away from set templates.

The music, visuals  and locations deserve mention, all adding to the story.

The climax  scenes however seem a tad contrived to fit into the story and carry it a certain way.

On the whole, the film with its  interesting plot, noteworthy making and performances,  makes an engaging watch.
