Movie Review : Tourist Family

The film, directed by newbie Abishan Jeevinth stars M Sasikumar as Dharmadas, a Sri Lankan Tamil, who manages to reach India via a boat, in pursuit of a  better life for his 2 children,  along with his wife Vasanthy (Simran).

Thanks to his cousin ( Yogi Babu), Das and his family are able to settle as  tenants, in a good neighbourhood, in Chennai,  but is warned by the cousin to keep his origins a secret.

But,a series of incidents take place which puts the family in a tough spot. What happens next? How does this family cope?

The  warm, feel good movie, has ample drama, suspsense, a plethora of human emotions all strongly laced and strung together with oodles of comedy, all of which make for an entertaining watch.

Helmed by Sasikumar, who delivers yet another fantastic performance, of a man who would do anything for not only his family,  but also for neighbours, strangers and  anyone whom he thinks needs a helping hand or just even a kind word.

The film seeks to showcase the strength and importance of humanity, social relationships and family bonding which are fast disappearing in modern life. And the director ensures all this is put across in a most engaging and entertaining manner, sans melodrama nor preaching, leaving you with a warm, fuzzy feeling of joy.

Simran bites into yet another meaty role, delivering a superb performance as the mom, wife and neighbour, in her second innings. Hope to see more of her in screen in coming days.

The film has a dream supporting cast of superb actors, like MS Bhasker ( in a different role), Yogi Babu, Bagvathy Perumal aka Bucks,Kumaravel, Ramesh Thilak and many more,  all of whom add value with superlative performances. Director Abhishan also delivers a solid act in a cameo.

The music by Sean Rolden is solid, the screenplay is fast-paced and packs in solid suspense. The film leaves you wanting more as it takes you into the lives of the characters.

With a different and interesting storyline, ample comedy, drama and emotions, topped by superb characterisations and performances, Tourist Family is an engaging family entertainer.
