Movie Review : Mark

Bhadra ( Naveen Chandra) is a violent, ruthless and dreaded gangster, who is furious when his brother ( Vikranth) has eloped with a girl,  instead of marrying into an influential minister's family.  When he hears of the lover's location , he rushes to that town.

In the meanwhile,  group of children have been kidnapped and one of them has evidence of the incumbent state CM ( Shine Tom) having murdered the current CM  in order to usurp power.

Suspended super cop Markandeya aka Mark (Kichcha Sudeepa) gets to hear about the kidnapping and the danger the kids are in and gets into the fray to save them,  with the help of his loyal team (which includes Roshini Prakash and Deepshikha).

Does Mark manage to save the kids ? Are the criminal ministers exposed? What happens to Bhadra and his brother? How are the duo  involved in all of this?

The film is made on a grand scale as is evident in every scene, with grand sets, hundreds of junior artistes, a plethora of a stars in the cast, right from Shine Tom Chacko, Yogi Babu and Vikrant  to Naveen Chandra and Guru Somasundaram to name a few.

Ajaneesh B Loknath's music is peppy and the dance numbers are grand in scale with Kiccha Sudeep leading the pack with his charismatic style and moves.

The camera efficiently captures the superbly choreographed fights, chases and shooting sequences. Lot of night sequences are there which have been well shot and the scenes inside the flooded factory in the climax and in the lighthouse, deserves particluar  kudos for the camera team.

The entire film is held together by Kichha Sudeep's mesmerizing presence and panache. Be it the stunts, dances or dialogues, he delivers each in his signature style, a treat for fans of the star. The stunt scenes with Naveen Chandra ( marking his Kannada debut) are particularly impressive. Naveen has been given a tough role which requires him to  roar all through the film at sky high decibels, but he delivers a terrific performance yet again,  making for a worthy opponent to the hero's stature.

Roshni and Deepshika do a neat job and appear almost all through the film.  But Yogi Babu has been under utilised, and the same can be said about Tom Shine and Guru Somasundaram (though it is good to see Guru in a lighter role from the usual serious ones).

On the flip side, the film is too loud and the screenplay gets a bit too racy, giving the viewer no time to breathe  and hence an emotional connect gets tough.

The loud bgm too is almost constantly playing, sometimes drowning out dialogues.

Overall, Mark is a fast-paced commercial entertainer for  fans of the genre and Kichha Sudeepa.
