Movie Review : Vengeance

Vengeance is based on what the the title implies.

A young woman Veni ( Abarnathi) commits a crime as a teen to further her ambitions to mate it big in life.  And sure enough, as an adult, she educates herself and becomes a collector in a town.

In her position of power she is able to mamupulate people, help whom she likes and fulfil her dreams of control and climbing up the political ladder one step at a time.

But at what cost to herself?

Abarnathi has delivered a fantastic performance as Veni. At each point her expressions, subtle to the core, convey the inner workings of her mind. Her body language is excellent. The way her smile lights up her face when someone praises her, display her strong love for being praised that has driven her entire life.

The political characters are many and the resulting intrigues when they are pitted against each other are gripping.
The making of the film is on a solid scale and the cast is aptly chosen.

But the flip side of the film is that there are too many characters and though the situations are grippingly told, one doesnt really know where the film is headed.
The gray shades in Veni's character, though they make her interesting, are for a large part, directionless and dont steer the film in any clear direction.

A bit more writing to fill this lacunae would have helped to keep the viewer invested.
