Movie Review: Samharam

 Mithra loves Ashok but her brother Narsimhan ( Prajin) is determined she gets married to Inba, a criminal. She tries to escape from the impending wedding, being kept prisoner in his house. 








In the meantime Inba himself lands up in the house after having killed someone. 

Another father-daughter duo land up as well, as relatives of Bala, Narsimhan's friend, whose car is repaired.

As the lovers decide to kill Inba that night, they discover the dad-daughter duo in his room, with the dad  planning to kill Inba as he had murdered his wife. 

Added to this is one more vengeful lover of Narsimhan's sister Chitra so had committed suicide thanks to Narsimhan's pressure to marry Inba.

What happens to all their plans? 

The film is basically about events,in one night in one house, with several characters coming in sporadically, each adding to the sudpense and build up in the story. The film begins on an engaging note and manages to keep the viewer invested to a large extent.

But somewhere along the way,  the interest wanes, as illogical situations and dialogues appear, giving the feel of watching a school play.

To the credit of the cast, they all give beat performances. Prajin in a clean shaven look, delivers a credible act with shades of grey. The rest of the cast deliver aptly as per  the demands of the script.

The bgm adds to the build up. The making, set work and visuals seem neatly done in keeping with the storyline.

However, the constant dialogues, similar camera angles and stretched out scenes act as downers and could have been better conducted. Finally however, there is a twist in the tale to watch out for. 

A middling suspense  thriller with neat performances.

 SI Adhyaman ( Samuthirakani ) investigates a gruesome twin murder of 2 couples in a village. While his superiors dismiss his intelligence, his senior officer Lakshmi ( Sshivada ) believes in him and makes him part of a special team to nab the culprits. Thanks to Adhyaman's skills the task force manages to trace possible suspects in a hamlet in a border town in Andhra Pradesh. As they begin to dig deeper, several layers emerge which link the case to events dating back to 1995. Who are the kiĺlers ? Do cops Adhyaman and Lakshmi manage to nab them? Movie Review : Parasakthi

 Director Sudha Kongara's Parasakthi hit screens on 10th January. The film is based on the TN students anti Hindi imposition movement in the 1960s. The story revolves around a student, Chezhiyan (Sivakarthikeyan) who starts an agitation against Hindi imposition along with co-students, on one dark night on the railway tracks.
