Kunaal Roy Kapur turns romantic hero in horror film

By Rinku Gupta

Actor Kunaal Roy Kapur known for his roles and funny antics  in films like Delhi Belly, Nautanki Saala and  Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and his sense of comic timing is now turning a romantic hero with Rajiv S Ruia’s Mushkil - Fear Behind You, produced by Ravinder Jeet Dariya. The actor , is the brother of producer Sidharth Roy Kapur and  brother-in -law of heroine Vidya Balan.

Kunaal is seen romancing Sanjay Dutt’s niece, Nazia Hussain, in the lush locales of Greece. Director Rajiv S Ruia, who was unsure whether Kunaal would consent to a romantic number actually had the song written poetically and had composer Vardan Singh set the romantic duet to tune.

Hearing it, Kunaal was not just mesmerized by the song, but loved the lyrics of Anjaan Sagri. Adds Kunaal, “I was worried at first because the song was romantic but I knew that comedy would be on top of my mind. But when I heard the song I knew that I should try and live up to the faith that director Rajiv S Ruia had in me.”
Nazia and Kunaal, who also gel very well, as co-stars and as people complemented each other enabling the song to be picturized as envisaged by Ruia. “It was not  an easy task for Nazia. While I was in a suit, she had to shoot in the extreme cold in glamorous outfits.”

Says Nazia, “It was not easy and at times, my teeth were chattering when I was emoting my romantic best. Between shoots, the unit rushed to cover me with rugs.”
Adds Rajiv S Ruia, “In the last scene, Nazia fell and we had to rush, pick her up and take care of her. Both Nazia and Kunaal are great sports and the picturization of the song has come out brilliantly, bringing to life the virgin locales in Greece. After this film, I am sure Kunaal will have a lot of romantic films coming to him. "

Why did Rajiv think of Kunaal in this role? “I had cast him for a horror film. In horror genre, the songs cannot be peppy, so romantic it is. Kunaal was gracious enough to be part of the song and it looks amazing.”
