Chinnasamy ( Cheran) is unhappy with the way he and his family is treated in the village as they come from a different strata and caste. He wants to give up his work as a priest doing death rituals and give the exam to become a VO. His sister Valli wants to be a doctor. But the village folk dont want them to rise in life. The village bigwig ( Lal) especially, is hell bent on stopping him from quitting and taking up a new profession.
He also beats up Valli for being in love with his son ( Dhruv)
One day when the bigwig's father dies, Chinnasamy refuses to go and do the last rites. This matter escalates drastically and finally leads to a court case.
What happens next? Does chinnasamy get the right to follow his profession of choice?
Cheran has done his part well, bringing out the pain and angst of his character and struggle for change and respect.
The supporting cast and Deepshika and Dhruv too do justice to their roles.
The struggles of various strata are brought out by the director, and he creates an empathy in the viewer.
But few aspects could have been handled in a better way for more clarity.
Overall the film sets out to prove a point and conveys it well cinematically.
