Movie Review : Laandhar

 ACP Arvindh  ( Vidaarth) is an upright cop in Kovai. His wife ( Swetha Dorothy) suffers from agarophobia so he has taken a house outside the city bustle for her sake. 


One night a psycho killer is on the loose and the entire force including  Arvindh is on the lookout for him. 

In the meanwhile the kingpin of spurious liquor racket caught by Arvindh, escapes from lock-up. As cops are hot on the chase, an incident takes place which frightens Arvindh's wife alone at home. 

Who is the killer? What happens when all these incidents pile up and matters reach to a head? Does Arvindh save his wife and bring the guilty to justice?

Vidaarth as the upright cop gives his best and fits the role to perfection. His scenes as the caring husband too are captured well. The other actors, Suhana Chandrashekar and Swetha Dorothy do justice to their roles and seem.aptly cast.

The movie is full of road chases which are engrossing like the climax chase, but which also get a tad repetitive. The police procedurw moments too are shown too much in detail at times. 

The film seems to go off at a tangent as it steps into  flashback mode. The non -linear time stamps on the side are also confusing.

Songs seem added for commercial effect but the the film could have done better with crisper editing and sticking to the thriller aspects. The emotional and mental health issues could have been better portrayed one feels. The film tries to deliver one too many issues on the plate. Several scenes and situations  seem contrived.

An investigative  thriller high on drama, with sound performances for the most part,  Laandhar in a  crisper form could have been better appreciated.

Film Review: 7G The Dark Story

 Varsha ( Smruthi Venkat) and her husband Rajiv move into their own new flat numbered 7 G, with their son. At the house warming party, Rajiv's ex girlfriend Nisha does a witchcraft on their son Rahul and the family because she wants Rajiv back in her life.  Soon some eerie events create havoc in the happy family.  One day,  the truth behind the happenings is revealed. The ghost haunting them is none other than Manjula ( Sonia Agarwal) who had lived there previously with her son.
