Movie Review: Zebra

Zebra, is  thrilling concept driven  bank fraud  film with ample  twists to keep you on edge right through.

Saytadev plays a bank official who along with his banking official girlfriend ( Priya Bhavani  Shankar) and his banking colleague and buddy, gets embroiled in a dangerous  banking scam when he tries to help his girlfriend for a mistake she made while transfering money.

Soon he finds himself involved with a big don ( Daali Dhananjeya) who forces him to engage in bank fraud which later leads to  bank robbery in order to save his skin.

Time is of the essence and a lot is at stake. Does he manage to save himself and his girlfriend  from prison for theft and fraud and other dire consequences?

Zebra, is an eye opener of a film,  in the way it unpeels the layers on the different ways corrupt  bank personnel or fraudsters  can cheat customers and the system, showing the loopholes in the system that can be exploited by powerful and unsrupulous  forces.

Satyadev fits the bill perfectly with his compelling and sincere performance while Daali Dhananjaya , exuding raw energy and charisma effortlessly in every scene, steals the show as a classy villain with an emotional side. Priya Bhavani Shankar has a good role and she does  full justice to it. Sunil Varma delivers a finely honed performance.

The production design is on point, with grand sets designed to lend an opulent look all through, given the theme of the film.  There is ample comedy in situations and dialogues while the action blocks and chases are impactful.

There are some double meaning dialogues that could have been avoided. Though the movie seems quite detailed and realistic in the way the frauds are dealt with,  the run time of around164 minutes seems a tad long as there are lots of dialogues and information to take in which seem repetitive after a while.

However, with high production values, impressive  casting and performances,  overall Zebra is a rivetting cat and mouse game and heist film with ample twists, suspense, action, humor, emotions and tense moments to keep you engaged and entertained all through.

Rating 3.75 /5
