Movie Review : YOLO
When the parents of Deekshita (Devika Satheesh) look for a groom for her, they make a surprise discovery. Apparently Deekshita has already been married, something she claims even she didn't know about. On searching for the truth, she discovers who is supposedly her husband - a youtuber named Shiva ( Dev), who is equally surprised by this news.
The duo meet and decide to find out the truth, which leads them down some strange alleys, which include encounters with varioys villains, the cops, an honour killing and even supernatural elements. Are the duo really married? What are the circumstances of this strange occurence? Do they unite or divorce?
The film has good production values, with aesthetic visuals, pleasantly shot songs and a good cast of leads and supporting actors. Everyone has performed superbly, including Dev and Devika, who make a good screen pair.
But the screenplay seems to ramble along , the flashbacks adding to the confusion. The plot moves between a romantic angle, action and events explained with a supernatural angle thrown in. Situations which aim to tickle the funny bone fall flat as jokes dont land. Songs act further as speed breakers to an already stretched out, slow narration which seems to get repetitive after a while. Crisper editing and a more streamlined screenplay, may have helped somewhat.
