I am very happy to have the opportunity to work as a lyric writer in this film. Before this, I had written the song “Yar Tharuvar Indhe Ariyasanam” which was featured in the film Vatharam, which was directed by me. After that, I did not have the opportunity to write songs continuously. The reason is that Vairamuthu mostly writes the lyrics in my films.
I have known the director of this film for a long time. He is a very energetic and clear-thinking young creative. He has experience working with many important personalities in the world of music and cinema. So he has a clear artistic vision. At one point, he asked me, “Do you want a song that is relevant to today’s times?” I took that as a great opportunity and wrote this song.
I thought that this song should not only reflect the current social situation but also have a historical background. For that, I researched the words used during the formation of Chennai in the 1900s, especially in the Black Town areas, their meanings and dictionary references. I created this song based on that research, as combining the words of that period with the background of the song gives it a unique beauty.
Even though this song is a promotional song, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the director, producer, music director Aswamitra, Agaath Mahendran and the entire crew for accepting this opportunity and giving me this opportunity.
