Movie Review: Biker

Vikas Narayan ( Sharwanand) has devoted his life to his passion for motocross racing, recieving training from his father Sunil Narayan ( Dr Rajasekhar), a renowned sportsman whose aim is to present Vikas' talent to the world.

But just as he on the brink of success, Vikas drops his ambition, nursed since childhood, leaving his father in the lurch.

What is the reason for his decision? Who is Ananya ( Malavika Nair)?  How does his son's betrayal affect Sunil's life? What happens to Sunil's dream for his son and the future of motocross?

Directed by Abhilasg Reddy, the film is  a well made, sports drama made on a very different sport, that of motocross racing.

The highlight of the movie are the gripping adrenaline pumping racing scenes, choreographed and executed brilliantly ɓy the stunt and camera teams. The climax especially is an edge- of- the- seat experience and keeps you glued. The several other racing sequences too deserve kudos. The film overall takes you into the world of this unexplored sport most brilliantly.

For Sharwanand as Vikas, the role is a meaty one and he does a fantastic job of it, playing with panache and aplomb the younger and  older versions of himself,  bringing to life the both versions of himself. The scenes with his father are another highlight of the film.  Sharwanand delivers his act with a certain sincerity that shines through. His various looks are superb, his fitness levels are top notch in the  racing scenes. He also stands out in the scenes where he preps for his comeback.

Dr Rajasekhar as Sunil Narayan is a pivort of the film and delivers a nuanced and measured performance. He balances superbly the  roles of father and coach and the scenes with his son are gripping while those with his grandson are  a delight to watch.

Malavika Nair leaves  a mark while Atul Kulkarni delivers a top notch act as the corporate honcho and is a big plus for the film.

Where the film could have done better, is in exploring more of Vikas' inner demons and the conflict with his father. How could he drop everything and leave a father and coach he was so close too, is not properly explored.

Overall, Biker is an engaging, adrenaline pumping sports drama which also takes you also on an emotional roller coaster, and superbly brings to life the world of motocross  racing, with well written characters, good visuals and fine performances.
