  ‘Appane Muruga’ (Addressing Lord Murugan as a Fatherly Deity) is something common among people when they are distressed in lives.  Lyca Productions' Indian 2 which hit theatres on Friday, is continuing to attract family audiences at a steady pace. The Kanal Haasan- Shankar combo and the hype around being a sequel to a super hit original has got viewer curiosity piqued. Despite the mixed reviews and some negative chatter on social media, the film is being well recieved. Now, the makers have decided to cut some of the length of the 180 min 04 seconds film and made it shorter by 11 min 51 seconds, giving it a crisper feel for audiences to enjoy.

A bunch of tweenage kids from privileged families, decide to bunk a day from thier posh school, sneaking out without anyone noticing. Their aim to go to a small village on a ghost hunt, near the granny's home of one of the children.They decide to go on an adventure to prove they are grown-up, but the adventure misfires. As they reach the lonely area, one by one,  strange things start happening. Their friends keep disappearing and eerie happenings scare them.  As they wander off further in search of the village, they run into an astrophycist (Parthiban) who reveals that all the happenings are due to the presence of aliens. What happens next ?  The film moves from a simple kids day out to a sci fi film, a novel concept tried by director   actor Parthiban.  The portions depicting the kids trauma though, seem a tad stretched, and it does require oodles of patience to watch them scream and run from pillar to post repetively.  Thambesh ( Jagan), Chitra Aravindan (Siddharth) Arathi ( Priya Bhavani Shankar) and Harish ( Rishi) run a You Tube channel called Barking Dogs, which  showcases corruption at various levels.  When this  group finds corruption increasing by leaps and bounds even leading to suicide and highhandedness by authorities , they start a campaign to bring back Indian thatha who they believe is the only saviour who can weed out corruption in society. Their social media campaign succeeds in bringing Senapathy ( Kamalhaasan) to India from Taiwan where he is spotted.
