 The much awaited Jr NTR starrer Devara hit theatres today. In a group of hamlets close to the sea, live 4 clans, each headed by different chiefs, which include Saif Ali Khan and Devara ( Junior NTR). Known for their bravery and skills, they are hired by nefarious elements to rob containers off the coast in mid sea, at great risk to their lives.  However, one day Devara has a change of heart when he learns that the goods they are stealing are actually weapons involved in killing innocent people and causing mayhem in the country. After this,  he issues a ban on such activities,  much to the chagrin of the other chiefs, who now wish to remove him from their path. What happens next?  Arulmozhi Varman ( Arvibd Swamy) now lives in Chennai with his parents (Jayaprakash, Sriranjini) and his wife (Devadarshini) and teenage daughter, after having left their native town 22 years ago for to a monetary dispute. Now, after 2 decades, Arulmozhi returns to his much-loved hometown, for the wedding of Bhuvana, the only cousin he kept in touch with. Unable to bear the flood of memories he is deternined to give her his gift and return by the night bus. But once there, things don't go according to plan. The reason, is his meeting with a lovable, cheerful stranger ( Karthi) who everyone knows and who pours his affection onto him,  flooding him with nostalgic memories. But there is a problem. When the local body elections take place in a village, Kopulingam ( Balaji Sakthivel), the village bigwig who has been proudly ruling uncontested  as head for several years, comes in for a shock. The area has more come under the reserved section which means he cant contest. So in order to keep things under his control anyway, he decides to nominate the innocent, obeidient to the core, man-friday, Ambedkumar ( M Sasikumar), a person from an oppressed cast, who fits the bill,  instead. But matters dont go exactly as planned. What happens next? The film seeks to bring out the inner workings of upper caste politics and how the oppressors continue to manipulate the system, with arm twisting tactics, keeping the subjugated in fear and under their thumb.
