Movie Review : PT Sir
Kanagavel ( Hip Hop Aadhi) is a P T master at the GP Institutions college. His mom (Devadharshini) wants him to get married soon because of an astrologer has predicted that if he gets into involved in any troublesome social issues before marriage, it will land him in great danger to his life. She brings him up in a protective manner, keeping him away from serious issues and keenly is on the lookout for a good match for him.
His mother is therefor thrilled when he falls in love with his school maths teacher Vanathi ( Kashmira Pardeshi) and the engagement is fixed for the next morning.
But to her utter dismay, Kanagavel lands up in serious trouble on the day of his engagement.
His neighbour Rathnam's ( Ilavarasu) young daughter Nandini ( Anikha Surendran) commits suicide. Kanagavel discovers a secret suicide note which leads him to the the college Chairman Guru Purushottaman (Thiagarajan) who has destroyed the note. In a rage he slaps and manhandles the chairman.
What happens next? What happened to Nandini? How does Kanagavel come out of the grave problem he has landed in?
Hip Hop Aadhi carries the film on his shoulders, with just the right mix of lightheartedness, charm and emotions that he is known for. His perfomance at each turn of events, be it as the pampered son, playful lover, friendly PT master, the brother-like vibes with Nandini, or the serious man with a cause in the latter half, he portrays it all with credibility.
Kashmira Pardesi who pairs with him again post Anbarivu, gets it just right, bringing out just the right mix of youthfulness, innocence and strength of her character.
Director Karthik Venugopalan has given a message in the film which is brought out with solid performances with the rest of the well chosen cast as well namely Devadharshini, Thiagaran, Prabhu, Ilavarasu and Anikha Surendran, all of whose stellar acts, bring a gravitas to the story.
The songs are peppy, the visuals are superb and the making is lavish, upping the scale as per the story.
The screenplay, is well paced out with the tuft mix of light moments, family sentiments, romance, emotional highs and suspenseful twists. Watch out for the climax portions with veteran actor Bhagyaraj adding value by his presence.
PT Sir attempts to raise a modern day social issue and with the dialogues and performances, strike a chord with the viewer.
Overall, PT Sir is a film for family audiences with humor, sentiment and a social issue, narrated in an engaging manner.
