Movie Review: Niram Maria Ulagil

When a young girl ( Lovelyn), angry with her mother ( viji chandrasekhar)  leaves home and gets on a train, she meets a TT ( Yogi Babu) who narrates four stories to her.  All of them have the love and relationships,  with a women, as mother or wife  at the centre of each.

At the end of the train journey, the young girl realises something.  What was so moving about the stories?

The film puts together a beautiful chain of anecdotes that are  moving and heartwarming and even heart wrenching at times.

The first story leads to a don Abdul Malik (Natty Natraj) in Mumbai and his love for his deceased mother ( Kaniha)which leads him to save the lives of young lovers.

Another story revolves around a young man ( RioRaj) who lives in a tiny hamlet. His whole life turns upside when he learns that his mother has a terminal disease and only six months to live. Determined to save her life he undertakes but with no money in hand,  he turns to crime. Is he able to save her life?

In another instance, an old couple (Vadivvukarasi and Bharathi Raja) learn that tbeir two sons ( whom they brought up with great love and care)  don't care about them  and consider them a burden. What happens to the  heartbroken old couple?

In another anecdote,  an old widow (Thulasi)  is taken by her son and his wife to an old age home since they are going to settle abroad and have no place for her in their lives.  But the old lady,  escapes the Home and I'm the process, runs into an auto driver ( Sandy) who has no parents.  A familial bond develops between the duo. What happens next?

The stories are filled with emotional highs and solid performances like those of Natty, Thulasi, Bharathi Raja and Vaduvakarasi amongst others. The film highlights the significance of relationships and the pathos in each anecdote is heart touching.

But at times some scenes border on excess of emotions that  could have been avoided.

Overall an interesting anthology on human relationships and the importance of valuing loved ones.
