Movie Review : Will

The patriarch of a family dies, leaving a will which gives a portion of his wealth to an unknown girl the family has never heard of.

When the will comes up for probate before a judge ( Sonia Agarwal) she discovers that the family has committed a fraud by bribing an imposter to pretend to be the unknown girl so as to get hold of that property unscrupulously.

The judge designates a young court SI , (Vikranth) to investigate and produce the real beneficiary before the court. His search for the girl ( Alekhya) leads him deeper into her life and also  to another scam which has changed the course of her life and led to her meeting the patriarch who willed a flat in her name.

Who is this girl? Why did the patriarch leave this flat to her? What scam was her family affected by? How does the judge resolve the issue of the will?

The movie seems to be aimed at giving the lay man an idea of court procrdures and the various scams going on in society which cause havoc in innocent people's lives.  How a  hardworking father  a student and a bright young woman is forced to suffer for no fault of theirs is what the film highlights.

In the process, it also touches upon relationships across age- groups, how an honest judge and cop  can help society and how circumstances force innocents beyond limits.

Sonia Agarwal as the judge delivers a noteworthy performance, superbly portraying the gravitas of a judge, with just the right expressions and body language.

Vikranth as the idealistic cop is a good fit and delivers a most natural performance in a lengthy role. Alekhya as the young woman caught up in a life of turmoil and stress, is perfectly cast and plays her part to perfection, bringing out the very well, the despair and sense of duty to her family which pushes her beyond limits.

The screenplay is smooth and beings out the suspense in the story.  The camerawork of  TS Prasanna  is a plus for the film as is the music by debutant Saurabh Agarwal. The montage song between Alekhya and the patriarch has a melodious tint with an interesting mix of sounds.

On the flip sideal, a lot is English is used at key points which may hinder understanding among audiences. Also, the screenplay seems stretched out as the flashback unfolds , leading to a hurried ending, with a change of track as  shifts  focus to another topic in the end.  Looks like a  lot of issues were sought to be packed into the story.

Overall, the film makes for a good watch,  with an interesting premise, good performances and making.
