Movie Review: Hotspot2 Much

 The sequel to the original follows a similar pattern in terms of an intro, but with a difference.

This time,its an aspiring lady director  Shilps ( Priya Bhavani Shankar) narrating a story to a producer. What is her relation to the part 1 hero Vignesh Karthick? Well, therein lies a tale.

The film is made of 3 stories narrated by Shilpa, each with a different set of characters and different themes.




While the first story is about fan wars, the second one features a father and rebellious daughter relationship. The third is a futuristic love story.




As Shilpa narrates the stories, another real life plot emerges. Who is Shilpa? Why is she telling the producer those paricular stories? 



The film is undoubtedly an interesting watch. The fan war story will resonate with audiences as it deals with a topical issue often found raging on social media and during film releases. The hard-hitting dialogues delivered by ace veteran MS Bhaskar strike the right chords, while the raw performances of Aditya Bhaskar and the other actors seem natural, which enhances the effect is the episode.

The father-daughter tale too will touch a chord, especially with family audiences who may find themselves similar generational  differences. 
Both these stories have a social message and the contemporary and natural vibe of the narration and performances by MS Bhaskar, Thambi Ramaiah ( both just fantastic) along with the rest of the cast, are s big plus. 

The third epiode about love has a gripping twist at the end. Ashwin Kumar returns with a  well written role which he delivers credibly, aided by a cute chemistry with Bhavani Sre who plays a girl from the future. The final episode does seem a tad longer than the other two though the suspense factor is maintained well. 

Though the movie is dialogue heavy, the humor laced counters and contemporary references keep the viewer entertained.

Overall, with clever writing, solid performances by a versatile, well chosen cast, references to contemporary social  issues,  and ample comedy,  Hotspot2 is an entertaining watch.

Movie Review : Parasakthi

 Director Sudha Kongara's Parasakthi hit screens on 10th January. The film is based on the TN students anti Hindi imposition movement in the 1960s. The story revolves around a student, Chezhiyan (Sivakarthikeyan) who starts an agitation against Hindi imposition along with co-students, on one dark night on the railway tracks. Movie Review: Mahasena

 Sengottavan ( Vemal ) and his wife Bommi ( Shrusti Dange) live in a mountain village and are leaders of the people. Sengottavan has an enemy in the tribal leader Ganga ( Mahina Ghupta) who was once his lover at a young age, but the duo were separated due to a village feud with a statue at the centre of it all. Now,  Ganga is baying for his blood and wants to kill Sengottavan and get back the village deity as well. In the mix is a corrupt cop (John Vijay) who also wants the statue. But he is working in cahoots with the tycoon King Of God ( Kabir Duhan Singh) who cruelly tortures the villagers and steals the statue with the help of the cops. What happens next?
