Movie Review: Love Insurance Kompany

 The film is set in Chennai of 2040. Sun ( SJ Suryah) runs an App called Love Insurance Kompany aka LIK which has a monopoly and has everyone addicted, controlling their lives and even deciding who is the perfect partner for them. 

Into this world enters Vibe Vassey ( Pradeep Ranganathan) who lend his voice to the app.

His father ( Seeman ) runs an organic world where phone addicts are treated and learn to connect with Nature and an organic way of living.  Vassey too believes in this and doesnt even possess a mobile.

But one day,  he falls in love at first sight, with Dheema ( Krithi Shetty) who is an influencer and lives and breathes with her mobile and the LIK app. 

Soon, this difference acquires bigger proportions with the LIK app dominating even love lives of its addicted users.

Does Vassey get the love of his life? What challenges does he have to overcome due to technology taking over everyone? Does old fashioned love win in the age of data driven dominance of technology?

The futuristic world created by director Vignesh Shivan which permeates the story,  adds a fresh and unique dimension to the love story. The vfx with little details all over, add a unique touch. 

The concept of data and tech controlling lives,  (which one knows is a reality even now) is well explored in great detail via LIK and Sj Suryah's character. The Organic World of Vassey brings a smile to the face as many present day issues and phone addictions seen in kids and adults, establish an instant connect.
The message of the film,  is uniquely brought to the fore via the characters of Vassey, Sun, Dheema and Seeman. 

Without preaching, the director establishes how old world emotions  of human bonding,  love and caring cannot be ever replaced. The message is clear- use technology wisely without it destroying  human emotions, connections and caring for one another.

Pradeep Ranganathan delivers an energetic and vibrant performance, suoerbly displaying the nuances of his character in a measured performance. Another winner for the actor in his 4th film as hero!

Krithi Shetty is perfectly cast as Dheema and nails the look of her character and also gets the emotional scenes with her Mom, her crazy world dominated by views and likes, right down to her confusion when faced between real time emotions of love and caring. She brings out very well, the innocence of her character with a superb performance.

SJ Suryah as the villain is another pillar on which this movie rests and he delivers a delightful performance, lighting up the screen everytime. Many a subtle is conveyed via his character.
Yogi Babu is seen in a different role, as do Sunil Reddy and Anandraj. Malavika returns to the screen with a neat performance as Krithi's mom.
Anirudh's music is a highlight be it the Dheema song of the ebergetic adaavadi track.
Kudos to cameraman Ravi Varman and Production designer Muthuvel for the superb visuals and detailing,  which transport you to the 2040 era. The costume and casting departments also deserve kudos for their efforts in creating that world.


On the flip side,  the film is also dialogue heavy and lags begin to show in the second half, which indicate that a bit of trimming would have worked better.  Too much of the futuristic world gets a tad tough to take in as the novelty wears off after a while.

Overall, the film, with its grand making,  superb performances, novel concept, good visuals, music and good message, makes for a sound family entertainer.

 SI Adhyaman ( Samuthirakani ) investigates a gruesome twin murder of 2 couples in a village. While his superiors dismiss his intelligence, his senior officer Lakshmi ( Sshivada ) believes in him and makes him part of a special team to nab the culprits. Thanks to Adhyaman's skills the task force manages to trace possible suspects in a hamlet in a border town in Andhra Pradesh. Movie Review : Kolai Seval

  Kali ( Kalaiyarasan) and Anasuya ( Deepa Bala) have a love marriage  and now she is pregnant. As per family custom, they travel to a remote forest temple to pray to a goddess.  After the rituals, the family returns while the couple are set to travel back on Kali's bike. But just as they are about to do so, something happens which changes Kali's life forever. What happens to the couple? Who are the perpetrators and why did they do what they did?  The film builds up suspense bit by bit, thanks to a measured screenplay, that takes you through the lives of the young couple and those of the family,  neighbours and friends.
