Movie Review : Manithan Deivamagalam

 Raghavan ( Selvaraghavan) a simple man who lives in a remote village  has a late marriage to Selvi. The duo live a happy life and even open a a small dhaba.


The village has no roads nor any facilities. One day, a loving child Amudha, tragically dies of a snake bite.

In another incident, a politico's relative, a factory owner ( Mime Gopi) threatens him creating a ruckus at his newly opened dhaba.

This sets off a series of events that turn his life upside down. What happens to the couple? Does Raghavan get justice?


The film has some stellar performances by Selvaraghavan, Kushee Ravi, Mime Gopi and Kausalya  who keep you invested in the story with their realistic act. The child actor Lirthiksla is a talented actor, who tugs at the heartstrings with her innocent and fantastic performance. The supporting cast also adds to the film.

The story seems predictable at certain placrs but succeeds in giving you a peek into the idyllic relationships of its characters and the struggles women face at the hands of unscrupulous employers and the lives ruined by lack of basic facilities in far flung areas.

The visuals are good and the music and the fliming of songs are done well.

The gory climax is not for the faint hearted and comes as a shocker. 

A few sceenes could have been trimmed to make run time more crisp and a bit of melodrama could be toned down. 

Overall, the film is a peek  into the struggles of common folk and the extent some are pushed  to for the good of the community.

 SI Adhyaman ( Samuthirakani ) investigates a gruesome twin murder of 2 couples in a village. While his superiors dismiss his intelligence, his senior officer Lakshmi ( Sshivada ) believes in him and makes him part of a special team to nab the culprits. Thanks to Adhyaman's skills the task force manages to trace possible suspects in a hamlet in a border town in Andhra Pradesh. As they begin to dig deeper, several layers emerge which link the case to events dating back to 1995. Who are the kiĺlers ? Do cops Adhyaman and Lakshmi manage to nab them?   Kali ( Kalaiyarasan) and Anasuya ( Deepa Bala) have a love marriage  and now she is pregnant. As per family custom, they travel to a remote forest temple to pray to a goddess.  After the rituals, the family returns while the couple are set to travel back on Kali's bike. But just as they are about to do so, something happens which changes Kali's life forever. What happens to the couple? Who are the perpetrators and why did they do what they did?  The film builds up suspense bit by bit, thanks to a measured screenplay, that takes you through the lives of the young couple and those of the family,  neighbours and friends.
