They said that if the water level rises, we would abandon agriculture and go away. This incident became the story for this film.
Then, during the Corona period, I was camping in Theni. At that time, the entire dam was overflowing with water and an old man was watching with an umbrella in his hand. That sight made me feel something. That was the motivation for this film.
How can you imagine a comedy in such a serious story? This is the challenge for me. In this, I have created Sarath sir as 'Rokka Puli' and Shanmuga Pandian as 'Pandi'. In that way, this film will be an entertainer that mixes action and comedy.

He is also intimidating in the action scenes in this film. When I watched the film, it was like watching the Captain in Shanmuga Pandian's performance at many places. Watching these scenes in the theater will be a wonderful moment for the fans, especially the fans of the Captain.

We were very happy when producer Mukesh sir told us that director Ponram was keen to direct a film with Shanmugam.
When I was in college, I enjoyed watching the Sivakarthikeyan-Ponram film. I was so happy when Shanmugam was going to act in a big director's direction. When I saw who else was acting, when Ponram said that Sarath sir was acting in this film, we were doubly happy.
The captain and Sarath sir have been together since the investigation period. The friendship between the two is unique. Today, in the absence of his father, I see it as a positive that Sarath sir is supporting Shanmuga to take him to the next level.
When Shanmugam and Sarath sir were dancing in the song 'Vastaara..' featured in this film, I was just watching to see who was better. Both of them danced well.
I first saw Yuvan Shankar Raja when the title 'Alexander Movie BGM - Yuvan Shankar Raja' came out. After that, I met him in person only now. As soon as we met and started talking, we shared many things.
When we started working on 'Saagaptham', the Captain told us that Shanmugam's first film should have music from Ilayaraja's family. Karthik Raja composed the music for 'Saagaptham'. Ilayaraja composed the music for Shanmugam's next film, 'Padaithalaivan'. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music for his next film, 'Kombu Seevi'. The Captain's wish has been fulfilled in Shanmugam's first three films. Pavatharani has also sung a song in 'Saagaptham'. This is why it is certain that the Captain's blessings are complete for Shanmugam.
My father used to tell me from a young age that cinema is not just about the hero and heroine, but also about all the technicians who work on it. He would say that everyone together makes a film. So I would like to express my gratitude to all the technicians who worked on this film.
"When the shooting of this film was going on in Theni, my mother and I went there. When the song 'Usilampatti..' was played, everyone enjoyed it. Music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja said, "I am very happy to be on this stage. I have a lot to say. I have grown up watching Captain's films since childhood. Captain is a very inspiring person for me.
The captain got married and came to our house for a party for the first time as a couple. At that time, I and all my relatives were dancing to my father's music.
When director Ponram met me, I asked who the hero was. He said Shanmuga Pandian and without a second's hesitation, I agreed to compose music for the film. Captain sir, he has been a pillar for many. My brother Shanmuga Pandian definitely has a big place in cinema.
Starting with Sarath sir, I am also working for Shanmuga Pandian today.
I was happy to hear the script of this film. Ponram's trademark comedy scenes were especially great. It was a fun experience working with him.
"I composed music for the film 'Thennavan' starring Captain Sir. Before composing music for the film 'Aravindhan', I composed background music for the film 'Alexander' composed by my brother Karthik Raja. At that time, producer Subbu Panchu asked me to compose background music for that film. I composed a song and background music for that film. In this way, my journey in the film industry started from the film 'Alexander'. Today, composing music for the film starring Captain's son is his blessing and it feels like serving our family," he said.

I have known Yuvan Shankar Raja since he was born. Ilayaraja sir and Jeeva aunty are very close to our hearts. I have only a few friends in the film industry. The most important one among them is Jeeva aunty. I can also say that she is my inspiration.

Our wedding took place on January 31, 1990. The movie 'Bulan Anuradha' was also released on that day. The bond and friendship that developed between the two of them from that day on continues strong till today. When they served as the president of the Actors' Association, Sarath sir and Napoleon sir worked together like two hands to the captain. When we think of old memories like this, each one is a wonderful moment.
LK Sutheesh is the producer of the film 'Saagaptham' starring Shanmuga Pandian. He is not only his maternal uncle but also his everything till today.
I have seen this film. This film will be a film that the whole family can go to the theater to watch, enjoy and celebrate. The people of Tamil Nadu will recognize this.

If I have to tell you about the story of this film, while I was shooting a song for the film Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam, I went to the inner part of the Vaigai Dam. They were irrigating there through a motorized well. I looked at it with surprise, wondering if anyone would be farming inside the dam. When I inquired about it, they said that if the water in the dam dries up, our land and agriculture would be destroyed. They said that if the water level rises, we would abandon agriculture and go away. This incident became the story for this film.
Then, during the Corona period, I was camping in Theni. At that time, the entire dam was overflowing with water and an old man was watching with an umbrella in his hand. That sight made me feel something. That was the motivation for this film.
How can you imagine a comedy in such a serious story? This is the challenge for me. In this, I have created Sarath sir as 'Rokka Puli' and Shanmuga Pandian as 'Pandi'. In that way, this film will be an entertainer that mixes action and comedy.
I have been wanting to work with Yuvan Shankar Raja for a long time. He alone has the honor of taking me to Dubai for the first time. A big thank you to musicologist Ilayaraja for singing the song Amma in this film.
I was a little scared while narrating the story to Sarath sir. Only once in a while would he act like a grown-up. All the rest of the time, he would remain a young man and a child at heart. Working with him was an unforgettable experience.

I first met her out of respect at the invitation of Mrs. Premalatha Vijayakanth. She asked me to create a story for Shanmugam. It was after that meeting that the idea for this story arose. For this, I would like to express my gratitude to her at this moment.

The director gave us a lot of freedom on the set. He also created opportunities to improvise the scenes. In particular, I, Sarath sir, and Kalki, all three of us acted in a scene related to a lorry. In that scene, we pushed ourselves beyond our limits.

Actor Sarathkumar said, "I do not consider this event as just the audio launch of the film Kombu Seevi, but rather as an emotional event. Although director Ponram was one of the reasons for acting in this film, I agreed to act in this film when Shanmuga Pandian was acting. Because at an important time in my artistic journey, Vijayakanth's makeup artist Raju recommended me to Vijayakanth when he was looking for a villain for the film Pulan Pariyar. Sarathkumar was a hottie. They immediately called me and made me stand in front of Vijayakanth's office. As soon as he saw me, he immediately told me to meet director Selvamani and my friend Rauthar. As soon as he saw me, he made up his mind. At that time, the director and Vijayakanth were talking about something. Immediately, I went to a nearby barbershop, shaved my mustache and stood in front of them. That was the beginning of my artistic journey. That was an unforgettable moment.
After the film was completed and released, Vijayakanth told me something that no hero has ever shared. He said, 'Sharath, you are the biggest name in this film.' Following that, I acted in Captain Prabhakaran.
While shooting for two films, Pulanvisaraani and Captain Prabhakaran, I was seriously injured during a fight scene. At that time, even though others suggested an alternative, Vijayakanth firmly said that we could shoot that scene after Sarath regained consciousness. His determination impressed me the most and it is his quality that has kept me connected to him till today. I have experienced all his talent, love and affection from being close to him.
Today, I will tell you one thing from this stage. Shanmuga Pandian will be a big star actor in the future. There is no change in that. He is also like Captain Vijayakanth. As an actor on the set, he easily interacts with everyone.
We are not playing the role of uncle and aunt in this film. We have to say that we have lived. My wish is for this family relationship to continue.
I would like to share only one thing with Shanmuga Pandian. Don't think badly about your height and choose a story that suits your height and act in it.
