He is even jailed for his activities, during the early 1940s. The story of his life and efforts in spreading his idealogy and helping poor people against the atrocities of  a powerful  jamindar are narrated by an old lady, who in the flashback portions was  amongst the families helped by Pillai and his comrade Rairu Nambiar.
