Movie Review : Mellisai
Rajan, a PT master ( Kishore) is a good singer who participates in music reality shows. His wife Vidya ( Subatra Robert) works as a teacher in the same school. The duo have a boy and girl and share a loving ethos at home.
But when his son Deepak, gets a job and starts earning in the IT field very young in life, and Rajan job and music stint both go downhill, Deepak starts behaving arrogantly and soon the atmosphere at home becomes bitter.
Fissures develop in the family. What happens to this family? Do they ever get back on track ?
The film attempts to give a glimpse into a middle class life of an ideal family, and takes a deep dive into personal relationships, highs and lows, behaviour patterns, ego clashes that can destroy homes, and careers as well.
As usual, Kishore is at his best, bringing to life with ease, the emotional upheavals in his life. Subatra is the perfect foil as his wife. The two child actors are talented as well.
The movie is a flashback and the story though interesting, seems to meander even as it attempts to give slices of life of a family. The film also has an 80's feel to it at times.
But overall, the film is sweet tale about hope, love, family relationships and importance of parents ' role in the lives of their children and the lasting impact and legacy they leave behind in the minds and hearts of their kids.
