Movie Review : Beep
A young man ( Raghav) has occult powers wherein by looking at a photo he can predict past details about a person.
He befriends a sex worker and one day he is shocked to find her dead, fallen from the balcony of a high rise.
He is determined to find out the truth though the cops cannot find any clues nor proof against suspects.
But having an instinct and armed with a few details, he manages to zero in on the killer. Do the cops believe him? Do they find proof? What happens next?
The film has an interesting premise and good actors who take their roles seriously. The director has played a signifucant role as well. Raghav delivers a neat and convincing performance but is let down by haphazarded writing and a lacklustre screenplay. The story starts moving in various directions and the whole screen presention , which is dialogue heavy, gives off an amateur vibe. Scenes seem included just for shock value and the feel is of a school play in many places.
The climax portions are not for the faint hearted.
However, the film seeks to address social stigmas, inter-personal relationships in families, and the need for honesty and acting responsibly.
Overall, an interesting plot with good performances, which could have worked better with more indepth writing.
