Arka Mediaworks', John Doe team at media meet !

Arjun Das' 'John Doe' to be released with mysterious twists! – Releasing in theaters from November 13th!

Produced by Arka Mediaworks, directed by Madhumita and starring Arjun Das, 'John Doe' is set to hit theaters on November 13th.

The film crew participated in a press conference held on this occasion and shared various interesting information about the film.

In this event…

Actress Anupama spoke:

“'John Doe' is a very important, deeply psychological film. You go into the theatre as one person, but you come out as another person. I can assure you that this film will have that kind of impact on your mind,” he said.

Actor Badava Gopi spoke:

“Rather than talking about my voice in this film, the voice of this film is Arjun Das. His deep voice is unique. Even when we go for voice-over work, they say, 'Your voice should be like Arjun Das'. That's how much his voice has impressed the audience. He is truly a talented artist. It was a pleasure to work with him in this film.

This film is a psychological thriller. There is a psychological struggle within every human being. As Kamal sir said, it is the nature of humans to be half god, half beast. They have approached that mentality differently in the film.

Director Madhumita is a long-time family friend of mine. I was in deep distress after my mother passed away in 2018. It was Madhumita who contacted me and invited me to come to Kerala and act. She was the one who brought me back to normal life during that period. For that, I express my heartfelt gratitude to her.

Madhumita is a great director. Her creativity and the way she brings out the best in the actors is amazing. I have done a lot of comedy scenes in this film. Arjun Das' performance, his emotional scenes, etc. are all excellent in the film.

Also, Archana has played my wife in this film. Zara has also acted well. I am happy to see her growth. Madhumitha is a woman from our Tamil land who is attracting attention at the national level, which is something that our film industry should be proud of.

"I didn't know the meaning of the title 'John Doe' in the beginning. John Doe is the name used to refer to an unidentified male patient admitted to a hospital; it was only later that I learned that if it was a female patient, they would refer to him as Jane Doe. I thank Madhumitha and the team for giving me the opportunity to do this film with such a unique name and storyline," he said.

Actress Archana spoke:

“My character in this film is very important. The performance for it was also very powerful. You will feel the impact of my character from the first minute you watch the film. I have given such a powerful performance. I learned from Madhumitha that even a small character can be made very powerful and impactful. I am sincerely grateful to Madhumitha for believing in me and giving me this opportunity.

"'John Doe' is a joint effort of all the actors and technicians who worked on this film. My congratulations to all of you. Congratulations to the Arka company and the producers. I welcome you to Tamil cinema. May you achieve many more achievements in the Tamil film industry," he said.

Cinematographer Preetha Jayaraman spoke:

“The underwater scenes were a completely new experience for us in terms of cinematography in the film 'John Doe'. Since a significant part of the film takes place underwater, a lot of planning was required in advance.

During the pre-production of the film, we carried out various tasks including scene separation and pre-visualization. We also shot directly underwater. We used trained scuba divers for this. The actors were also given appropriate training and arrangements were made to get used to the environment. Although it was a challenging task, we completed it well as planned,” he said.

Film editor Vijay Venkataramanan spoke:

“Editing is, in a way, rewriting the story. After the story written by the director reaches the editing table, it can be further modified through many things including the sequence of scenes, its structure, and so on.

It has been almost 20 years since I worked with director Madhumita. Since we have a good understanding, I know in advance what she is shooting and why she is shooting that scene. While she is shooting, I start editing the film and send her the edited scenes. This way, she can see how the film is developing while the shooting is going on. We have such good coordination,” he said.

Fashion designers Priya Karan and Priya Hare spoke:

“In the film 'John Doe', we used the colors and designs of the costumes to enhance the mystery of the story and to hide certain things from the audience. Similarly, we tried to express the mood of each character through their costume design.

We believe that the best costume design in a film is when the costumes do not stand out on their own but blend naturally with the characters. We have not designed the costumes to make each artist stand out in a single scene, but have worked to suit the context of the story and the characters. We believe that our effort in the film 'John Doe' has been excellent in that regard,” they said.

Sound designer Atul Krishna spoke:

“Thank you to everyone who gave me the wonderful opportunity to work on this film. Sync Sound is a sound recording method that is very easy to implement if you have a good director, good actors and a technical team. Sync Sound is the direct recording of the dialogues spoken by the actors and the sounds that naturally occur in the environment during the shoot.

This method allows the actors to fully concentrate on their lines and the emotions of the character. When shooting in sync sound, the stage remains quiet and controlled. This helps not only the actors but also the technical artists including the director and cinematographer to focus better on their work.

"'Mayakkam Enna' is also a film made in sync sound. I believe that by recording in this way, the audience will be able to connect more closely with the characters. If all directors come forward to make films in sync sound, it will definitely be beneficial for the films and the dubbing artists," he said.

Production designer Ashwini Kale said:

“We faced various challenges in selecting the shooting locations for the film ‘John Doe’. In particular, the shooting took place for about 38 days in the hilly areas including Kuttikkanam and Peermedu. One house in the film was located on one hill, another house on another hill, and the police station on another hill. Reaching such locations and making arrangements for the shoot there was quite a challenge.

Apart from that, the continuous rains also made the shooting difficult. However, the production team provided us with all the necessary facilities and gave us full support. Especially, Rajeev sir, the line production in-charge from Kerala, was very supportive. He selected the best shooting locations suitable for the film. Soon, the audience will understand our hard work when they see those locations on screen,” he said.

Producer Prasad spoke:

“We got a wonderful storyline from Madhumita. Madhumita is the most dedicated and hardworking director I have ever worked with. She has given a great film. I watched the film with our team just two days ago. I am very proud that this is our company’s first Tamil film. I hope this will not only be our first film but also the beginning of many more Tamil films to come.

I would like to thank Arjun Das for joining this film. I can't think of anyone else but him for playing the role of Chandru. He is a great actor. Now he is also a talented rapper. I would like to thank all the actors and technicians who worked on the film. I think director Madhumita will talk about them. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who worked on this film.

Thank you to all our partners Netflix (OTD partner), Zee Tamil (Satellite partner), TiVo and music partners. Special thanks to AGS, Archana, Aishwarya and the AGS team.

We were initially confused whether to make this film in Telugu or Tamil. We initially thought that we could make it in Telugu as our strength lies in the Telugu film industry. But we realized that the local cultural background and authenticity, which is very important for this story, will be properly revealed only when it is shot in Tamil. At the same time, there were concerns about the distribution of the film. Now that AGS has joined us, I believe that responsibility is in safe hands. I am happy to be associated with such a prestigious company.

"'John Doe' is a great film. Everyone should go to the theaters and support the film, which will be released in theaters on November 13th," he said.

Child star Nirav spoke:

“Working on the sets of 'John Doe' was a very enjoyable experience for me. Director Madhumita gave me complete support. She patiently taught me how to act and made me feel very free and comfortable. So I was able to have fun while shooting without any hesitation.

It was a great pleasure to work with talented artists like Arjun Das, Zara, and Sanjana Natarajan. I was a little shy and hesitant when I first saw them. But everyone made me feel at ease. Working on this film was an unforgettable experience,” he said.

Actress Zara spoke:

“After each scene in a shoot, the actors get compliments and feedback from the director and technicians. If a scene doesn’t turn out right, the director will also tell them how it could be done better. If a scene is done well, the cinematographer and director will compliment each other. Similarly, the costume design and art direction work together according to the colors, backgrounds and emotions of the film.

But beyond all of this, the most important recognition a film should receive must come from the audience.

"In particular, it is you, the fans, who can give that recognition to our director Madhumita. So, everyone should come to the theaters on November 13th and watch the movie 'John Doe' and enjoy it. We have all put in a lot of hard work to make this film. I truly believe that this film will provide a great theater experience worth spending your time and money on."

Actress Srushti spoke:

“Hello everyone. I feel very nervous to speak here as I only know a little Tamil. In fact, the first Tamil word I learned was ‘I don’t know Tamil’. But I am very happy to share this happy moment with all of you today.

I have a special memory with Tamil Nadu. The first time I travelled far from home was to Chennai. The first time I flew from Delhi to another city was to Chennai. Similarly, the first time I saw the sea was in Chennai. Now it doesn't seem like a coincidence that my first film is also a Tamil film. I think there may be some ancestral connection behind this.

Thank you to the producers for believing in me and giving me this opportunity.

Madhumita is a great director. The character of Darshana that she created will be very important in my personal journey as well. I am very grateful to her for giving me that role. My co-stars Arjun Das, Sanjana, Zara, Nirav, Anupama madam and everyone else helped me feel very comfortable in front of and behind the camera, without making me feel like a newcomer.

"Thank you to cinematographer Preetha madam for helping me understand the intricacies of light and lens. I express my love and gratitude to every artist who worked on the 'John Doe' team. Your love and support means a lot to me. We have all worked hard to make this film. I request you to come to the theatres on November 13th, watch the film, enjoy it and support it," he said.

Actress Sanjana Natarajan spoke:

If we start talking about the film 'John Doe', this show will end with thanking everyone. So let's take a look at all that at the film's success event.

It was a great experience working with all the actors and technicians of this film. I am happy to work with such a wonderful team not only as an actress but also as a person. This is the second film I am working with Arjun Das. It is a great pleasure and honor that we both play police officers in this film. Arjun is very sweet and friendly. He is always fun and lively on the sets. Even acting in serious scenes with him can be a challenge at times. Working with him again was a great experience. I am looking forward to acting with him in another film.

I worked for about 35 days continuously for this film. This is the most organized, time-efficient and efficient crew I have ever worked with. Going to the shoot every day is exciting. It was especially fun to have a lot of women in the crew. We all often tease Arjun sir on the set. He also reciprocates. He knows exactly when and who to tease. There are so many such lively memories from this shoot. I thank the producers, distributors and the crew for all the support and love they have given me.

'John Doe' is a great sentimental psychological thriller. Although I haven't seen the entire film yet, I have seen some scenes from the film. Many people who have seen the film have told me that it is very good. Everyone should go to the theaters on November 13th and watch the film.

The film will be a family-friendly film that you can enjoy with your children. We hope that you will have the experience of watching a great film when you come out of the theater. We need our media friends and fans to support us. Only then will we be able to work on many more such good films,” he said.

Actor Arjun Das spoke,

“First of all, thank you to all the media friends who have come to this press conference. When director Madhumita first told me the story of this film, she said, ‘Read the story.’ After reading the story, I agreed to act. Then, when I was told that the film was being produced by Arka Media Works, which has produced mega films including ‘Baahubali,’ I was very happy. It is an honor for me to work with Arka Media Works. Thank you to all the producers who have put their faith in our film.

Nirav, who acted in this film, has acted very beautifully and naturally. He should get many more film opportunities. My best wishes to Zara too. Srushti has worked very hard for this film. Especially, even though he does not know how to speak Tamil, when the shooting was done in sync sound mode, he would constantly practice the dialogues whenever he got the chance and finish speaking well in one take. Sanjana has acted brilliantly in this film. Preetha madam is our cinematographer. She starts shooting very naturally wherever she goes. Production designer Ashwini madam and her team would constantly run around the set. They paid great attention to making every frame perfect. Costume designers Priya Hari and Priya Karan would work together while looking at each other and understanding each other. Their coordination was amazing. Likewise, thanks to Anu madam, Atul Krishna, Rajesh, assistant directors and the entire technical team. Film editor Vijay Venkataramanan doesn't talk much, but his work has shaped the film brilliantly.

Archana Madam played my mother in this film. I have a special memory with her. The first award I received for the film 'Khaithi' was the Zee Award. Archana Madam hosted that show. After that, it became a habit for me to receive awards at award ceremonies hosted by her. That's why I call her my lucky angel. She has acted very beautifully in this film too. This is my second film with director Madhumita. Although I initially called her Madam, after our long journey, now I call her Madhumita in a friendly way. She had called me for an audition for a film before. I auditioned then. I was very happy when I got the news that she had selected it. Now she has contacted me again for the film 'John Doe' and said that you would be suitable for this role. Working with her was a great experience. Madhumita is a very dedicated and completely focused director. She has worked not only as a female director, but also as someone who leads an entire team. She has also selected talented technicians to support her.

Thanks to Mujeeb Majeed and everyone including the singers who composed the music for this film. Especially, my sister Malavika has also sung a song in this film. I asked Madhumita to test her voice to sing a song for the family. I was happy that she was selected in the audition. Thanks to AGS, Archana Madam, Aishwarya Madam and their team who are producing the film. I also thank Netflix, Zee Tamil, TiVo and other companies. 'John Doe' is not only a psychological thriller film; it also has strong emotional elements. It will also be a thriller that will keep the audience on the edge of their seats. Everyone should watch and support the film, which will be released in theaters on November 13. I hope you will definitely like the film.”

Director Madhumita spoke,

“Thank you to Karthik Subbaraj, Vijay Antony, Lokesh Kanagaraj, P. Ranjith, Pushkar – Gayathri and everyone else who supported the release of the trailer of ‘John Doe’. We are proud that Arka Media Works, the company that produced ‘Baahubali’, has produced the film in Tamil. Producers Shobu, Prasad and their team have given us immense support and encouragement at every stage. All my assistant directors and technicians have worked day and night.

No matter what genre I make a film in, human emotions are the main feature of my films. 'John Doe' is a psychological thriller. The story takes place in the hilly area of Kurinji Medu, located on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. Arjun Das plays a Kerala police officer and Sanjana plays a Tamil Nadu police officer. If I have got an older sister through this film, it is Archana Madam. She was a great support to me on the sets.

The red teddy bear presented at this event also has a meaning. Everyone has some flaws, but am I enough? The question that often arises in the mind, we are enough!!! We presented it to make it clear. The question of whether we are a good husband, wife, child, actor or technician is within everyone. The answer to that is that even though we have flaws, we are the best in our place.

The real recognition for a director comes from the audience. The fact that companies like Netflix, Zee Tamil, Tivo and AGS have seen the film and joined us is a huge boost. Everyone should watch and support the film 'John Doe', which will be released in theaters on November 13th,” he said.

The film is directed by Madhumita and produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni under the banner of Arka Mediaworks, which has produced blockbusters including 'Baahubali'. The film, which stars Arjun Das as the hero of the story, also stars Sanjana Natarajan, Srushti, Zara Vineet Chandok, Nirav and others.

Director Madhumita and Nicholas Chevaillier have jointly written the story and screenplay of the film. Preetha Jayaraman ISC has handled the cinematography for the film. Mujeeb Majeed has composed the music, with Artist 404 providing additional music. Vijay Venkataramanan has handled the editing. Ashwini Kale has worked as the production designer.

Arjun Das' first time playing the role of a police officer has further increased the expectations for the film. Produced by Arka Media Works, Arjun Das's unique character, and Madhumita's direction, 'John Doe' is set to hit the theatres on November 13th, creating a lot of expectations.
