Movie Review : Ananthan Kaadu

 Jackson, Kutty, Murali, Krishnan ( Indrans) from Kerala,  have dedicated their lives to protect people who are targetted by a corrupt system, resorting to violence many a time. 


One time, they are used as pawns in the game of the Chief Minister, by a violent act that lands them in a fight for their own lives.


Vetrivel Kumaran ( Arya) a freedom fighter from Sri Lanka, crosses paths with them in the course of things and together they end up fighting a corrupt, exploitative system that puts their lives in danger.

Who is the force behind all the dangers they fund themselves in?

The film aims to showcase a period of political turmoil and violence, but manages to do so in a rather dated manner, which doesnt really engage the viewer many a time. There are torture scenes and gory violence which are tough to watch and which also seem added for effect.

Arya,sinks his teeth into the role, and shines in the action blocks, apart from the more measured emotional sequences.

Indrans presence with his nuanced act, adds heft to the movie but even he cant really save a long drawn out screenplay which seems to meander all over without really taking the viewer anywhere. 

The production values, stunts, visuals and music are good, as is the casting. But the film somehow gives a dated feel and never really seems to connects with the viewer.

 SI Adhyaman ( Samuthirakani ) investigates a gruesome twin murder of 2 couples in a village. While his superiors dismiss his intelligence, his senior officer Lakshmi ( Sshivada ) believes in him and makes him part of a special team to nab the culprits. Thanks to Adhyaman's skills the task force manages to trace possible suspects in a hamlet in a border town in Andhra Pradesh.
