Movie Review : Padai Yaanda Maaveeran
The film is a fictionalised account of the story of a real life leader.
Kaduvetti Guru ( Gowthaman) is much revered in north TN region, as he protects people and helps the community through his activities. But his growing influence is not viewed positively by higher ups and thus a senior cop is assigned to investigate him and finish off his activities in a way that he cannot rise again and loses his grip on his people. Do the villains succeed?
The film has good production values, grand visuals, big action blocks, a good supporting cast and solid performances from V Gowthaman and his son Tamil ( who plays his younger self with power and vigor). Both actors deliver superbly in the action blocks as well as the emotional scenes. Poojitha plays his wife and leaves a mark in the limited screen time while Saranya Ponvannan as the mother, delivers a powerful and emotional performancdme yet again. Actor Naren delivers a noteworthy performance.
However, the bgm is too loud and over bearing in places and the detailing of incidents and attempts by his enemies to erase his identity and wreak havoc on innocents gets a tad repetitive to watch after a while. A bit of trimming would have worked better. A bit of exagerration and overdose of emotions takes away from the credibility and effect of some scenes, leaving a superficial feel. A little more depth and more nuanced screenplay would have given the film a more authentic narration.
Overall a film made on a grand scale, with good performances and a solid cast.
