Suriya donates Rs 1.5 cr from Soorarai Pottru revenue to Film Bodies

Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru directed by Sudha Kongara and produced by 2D Entertainment will premiere on OTT in over 200 countries on Amazon Prime Video on October 30th.
Keeping in m the film industry has come to a standstill, the theatres are non -functional and many technicians and workers are struggling during this Corona pandemic situation, Suriya had recently announced that he will be donating Rs 5 crore from the revenue generated by “Soorarai Pottru” to the general public, corona warriors as well as film technicians and workers, who are in need. The relief measures are now underway.
In the first stage of the relief measure, Suriya has donated a total sum of Rs 1.5 crores.
A sum of Rs 1 crore was given to FEFSI. In which, a cheque for Rs 80 Lakhs was handed over to FEFSI President R.K. Selvamani and a cheque for Rs 20 Lakhs was handed over to R.V. Udhaykumar, Secratary, TANTIS for the director’s union, which is an integral part of FEFSI.
A cheque for Rs 30 lakhs was given to Producer Kalaipuli S.Thanu for the Tamil Nadu Film Producer’s Council, which will be handed over to the special officer. Another cheque of Rs 20 lakh was given to the Nadigar Sangam and was handed over to actor Nasser, which will be given to the special officer of Nadigar Sangam.
This event was held at Bharathiraja Film Institute, Teynampet and was presided over by Iyankkunar Imayam Bharathiraja, President of TFAPA (Tamil Film Active Producer Association) in the presence of senior actor Sivakumar , Suriya, his 2D Entertainments Co-Producer Rajsekar Karpoorasundarapandian and office-bearers of the respective bodies.
