The much awaited Atlee debut in Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan starrer Jawan hit theatres on Sep 7th.

Vikram Rathore ( Shahrukh Khan)  an army officer lands up badly injured in a remote border town of India. He has lost his memory but saves the village folk from grave danger.

Decades  later, a vigilante calling himself  Rathore,( Shahrukh Khan) takes a metro train and its passengers hostage. He is aided by a bunch of women.

Narmada Rai ( Nayanthara) is the special ops cop assigned to negotiate and save the passengers.

Everyone is astounded by the demand of 40,000 crores ransom to be paid by business tycoon Kali ( Vijay Sethupathi), which then is immediately transferred to 7 lakh accounts of poor farmers unable to pay off loans.

Who is Rathore? He is actually Azad Rathore, a jailer who is helping people affected by corrupt government practices.

Does Narmada catch him? What is his backstory? Does he avenge innocent deaths and most importantly the wrongdoing by Kaali against his own mother ( Deepika Padukone) and father Vikram Rathore?

The film is a  mass Shahrukh show all the way and the star shines in his dual roles. The hero intro scene of Vikram Rathore is a goosebumpy moment and will rank on top amongst SRK's intro scenes. He plays both roles and all other makeovers with panache and keeps you hooked to the screen with his every move.

The highlight of the film are the action blocks which are rivetting,  all the more so in the pre-climax scenes.

Shahrukh's scenes with Deepika and Nayanthara leave a mark. Be it emotion , action or humor, SRK shines in every sphere.

Nayanthara looks every inch the fighting fit officer and a dream in the wedding scenes.

Vijay Sethupathi shines in the second half as his older self but feels a tad under- utilused in the first half.

Sanjay Dutt leaves a mark in a cameo while Priyamani, Sania Malhotra and the others do justice to thier roles.

Anirudh's bgm is on point and the scores are peppy ( watch out for the end credit song), while the song picturisations are a dream.

Antony Rubens editing is crisp and GK Vishnu's camerawork, outstanding.

Atlee has given his best to the film,  touching an emotional chord in many high points even as the action continues. Be it health, arms or farm loans and the final message of using votes with care, he touches a variety of socio-economic issues.

Yogi Babu  makes too  brief an appearance and one wishes Sethupathi's role had more meat. The actor seems to have not exactly got his groove till the pre climax scenes.

Also, in places, the Action seems to move at a very fast pace onto the next issue.

But the high entertainment quotient, coupled with humor, action, romance and sentiment, superb visuals and solid performances, make Atlee's Bollywood debut, a rock solid one, with blockbuster written all over this hi-octane Shahrukh Khan commercial entertainer.
