Movie Review : Kadukka

 Sivasamy ( Vijay Gowrish)  a tempo driver, and  Saminathan, ( Adarsh) a painter,  are friends in a small hamlet. But when a pretty girl Sumathy ( Smeha) comes as a neighbour , Sivasamy ( a philanderer ) starts wooing her. In the meanwhile Saminathan develops a bond with her father, as drinking buddies and as a result meets her often in their home, and instantly falls in love as well.

But to their horror, one day they discover,  that Sumathi, who has indicated to both of them that she loves only him.  A fight ensues between them and both of them  are determined to win her over at any cost. 

What happens next? Who does Sumathi actually love? Who wins her over?



The film is a comedy with a surprise ending that actually highlights a serious issue plaguing women and youth in society currently. Through a light -hearted comedic lens, the director succeeds in bringing these issues to the fore and driving home a message.

The leads play out their roles superbly. Smeha, as the sprightly, intelligent girl, Vijay Gowrish as the philandering, aimless bachelor and Adarsh as the painter, seem to get into the skin of their characters, with a convincing body-language, expressions and dialogue delivery.








The supporting cast are well chosen and over all the film, with its natural portrayal of village life, local dialect and humorous look at daily life, draws you into the world of its characters.
 The visuals are pleasant, the music adequately suited. 


The film brings to the fore an important issue about women's safety and drives home its message.

Watch out for the surprise ending.

 Tandavam ( Chethan Kadambi) , a consummate theatre actor runs a theatre troupe in a village. Kalyanam ( Pari Elavazhagan)  whose late father had started the troupe,  is now a part of the theatre troupe and plays mostly women roles. Aindham Vedham is a Tamil web series directed by Marmadesam fame, director Naga. A mythological thriller set in modern times, with  roots in Hindu religion, the story centres around strange happenings in a small village in Tenkasi district.  Anu Panchamvedi ( Sai Dhanshika ) is a singer looking for a big break. After her mother's death, she goes to Kashi to submerge her ashes. There, in a strange series of events, she is given an ancient wooden box by a saint, who instructs her to deliver it to a temple in  Aygarapuram.
