Movie Review: Ram Abdullah Antony

Three school boys, Ram, Abdullah and Antony are picked up by cops in a village, when evidence points to them in a gruesome kidnap and murder of a school boy.

But one cop, ( Soundarrajan) knows something about this case, which others dont.

What is his secret? Are the boys really guilty? What happens next?

The first half of the film sets the details and backstory of it's characters.  The plot is revealed and the setting is made clear.  But there are several gory scenes depicting the schoolboys allegedly chopping the victim, which are tough to watch and make you wonder about the impact it can have on young minds.

The second half however, reveals something about the real bad guys as a story takes an interesting twist, but the scenes of violence by kids are not easy to forget.

Soundar does a noteworthy job as the upright cop while the kids, Poovaiyar, Ajay Arnold and Arjun deliver very realistic performances  that leave an impact.

Vinothini, Chaams and Vela Ramamoorthy impress as usual. The rustic , raw setting is superbly captured on camera by LK Vijay

The film  seeks to show the significance of choices and consequences of actions and delivers the goods, even though a bit more emotional depth could have been  introduced.

The crime drama mostly succeeds in showing a mirror to society about social hypocisy, norms  and moral choices and how they impact lives. A raw, rustic, gritty, rivetting crime drama.

Rating 3/5
